Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Language and speech are one of the parameters of child development. Language and speech are parts of communication that are interrelated and cannot be separated. In practice, the child first develops aspects of his language and then begins to master speaking. Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between mother's knowledge about speech language development and social interaction in children with autism spectrum disorder in the technical implementation unit of the Surakarta disability and inclusive education service center. Methods: This research uses quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach, namely taking a relatively short time and a certain place. The data collection technique used a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 30 female respondents. Univariate and bivariate analysis using the Spearman Rank statistical test. Results: In the results of the study it was found that mother's knowledge about speech language development was dominated by the sufficient category (50%) and social interaction in children with autism spectrum disorder was dominated by the poor category (76.7%). The results of the bivariate analysis in this study showed that there was a significant relationship between mother's knowledge about speech language development and social interaction in children with autism spectrum disorder in the technical implementation unit of the Surakarta disability and inclusive education service center with the results of the Spearman rank statistical test showing that the value of p = 0.002 (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between mother's knowledge about speech language development and social interaction in children with autism spectrum disorder. Abstract

Background: Difficulties in mastering academic material among school-aged children are evident in their relatively low performance in memory-related subjects. One of the contributing factors to these difficulties is low working memory capacity. This study focuses on examining the digit memory profile of fifth-grade elementary school students in Surakarta. Methods: This study employs a descriptive quantitative cross-sectional design. A total of 112 children were selected using random sampling and directly responded to the Digit Memory Examination Form. Descriptive analysis was conducted using univariate analysis, while factor analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results: The digit memory profile of 112 children from five elementary schools showed a total score of 2,391 (mean: 21.35, median: 21.00). The lowest score was 9 (0.9% of respondents), with the ability to recall 4 digits forward and 3 digits backward, while the highest score was 32 (2.7% of respondents), with the ability to recall 7 digits forward and 5 digits backward. Factors influencing children's digit memory indicated that gender (p = 0.146) and age (p = 0.123) had no significant effect. However, the primary language (p = 0.003) and class rank (p = 0.003) had a significant impact on children's digit memory. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that children's digit memory ability varies, with an average score of 21.35 and a score range of 9–32. Factor analysis revealed that gender and age do not significantly affect digit memory, whereas primary language and class rank have a significant influence on children's digit memory ability. Abstract

The feeding process in infants with cleft lip and palate is greatly influenced by the ability to suck and swallow. Infants with this condition often have difficulty in sucking and swallowing effectively, which can lead to longer feeding duration, fatigue in the infant, risk of aspiration, and decreased nutritional intake. Inefficient oral feeding can inhibit the growth and development of the infant. Therefore, feeding infants with cleft lip and/or palate requires great care and knowledge from the mother. If not treated quickly and appropriately, this condition can cause malnutrition, growth retardation, and other health complications. This study aims to determine the description of feeding and intervention in infants with cleft lip and palate. The method used is meta-analysis, with a range of articles selected from 2015 to 2025. Article searches were carried out systematically and comprehensively through the PubMed, Science Direct, Elsevier, and Google Scholar databases, using the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) model to determine the eligibility of the article. Articles that met the qualitative criteria were reviewed again, and from this process six articles were obtained that were eligible for quantitative analysis. This meta-analysis showed that infants and children with cleft lip and palate had lower developmental outcomes than those without the condition (effect value -0.41; 95% CI = -0.29 to 0.01). The six primary studies were from countries such as South Africa, the United States, Brazil, and Italy, and were cross-sectional in design.
