Abstract

This article examines the growing trend of Bleisure—blending business and leisure travel—in Indonesia post-pandemic, analysing its impact on work patterns, the tourism industry, and employee well-being. The study highlights how the increased flexibility in work arrangements and the rising need for work-life balance have driven the adoption of Bleisure among professionals. Grounded in Work-Life Balance Theory (Greenhaus & Beutell, 1985), Motivation-Hygiene Theory (Herzberg, 1959), and Organizational Change Theory (Lewin, 1951), the research explores both the benefits and challenges of Bleisure. The findings suggest that while Bleisure enhances job satisfaction and work-life integration, it also poses risks such as burnout and unequal access among employees. Furthermore, the impact on the tourism industry is significant, with changes in travel duration and spending patterns. The study concludes that effective management and supportive policies are essential for maximizing the positive effects of Bleisure on both employees and the tourism sector.

Abstract

This community service project aims to empower the local community of Tenganan Dauh Tukad by enhancing their capacity to promote cultural tourism through digital platforms. Framed around the theme of Tenganan as The Living Culture Destination, the project was implemented in three phases: documentation, content development, and community training. In the first phase, local youth were involved in capturing high-quality photo and video content during the traditional Perang Pisang event. In the second phase, the materials were edited into Instagram-optimized formats using a custom visual identity that reflects the village’s values—Asli (Authentic), Sakral (Sacred), Teguh Tradisi (Tradition-bound), Edukatif (Educational), and Elegan (Elegant). The third phase focused on training participants in managing Instagram, creating content calendars, and applying preset filters through the Lightroom mobile app. The outcome includes the rebranding of the village’s Instagram account to @tengananexperience and the development of a content strategy based on the pillars: Be Promotional, Be Human, and Be Entertaining. This initiative not only improved the digital skills of the community but also strengthened their cultural pride and established a sustainable model for cultural tourism promotion. Keywords: community service, digital empowerment, cultural tourism, Instagram branding, Tenganan Dauh Tukad, sustainable tourism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism development on the economic, social, and cultural aspects of local communities in the Nusa Dua area of Bali and its surrounding regions, including Tanjung Benoa and Jimbaran. Using a literature review method and a descriptive qualitative approach, the study gathers secondary data from scholarly articles, institutional reports, and official publications. The findings indicate that MICE tourism significantly contributes to economic growth through increased hotel occupancy, job creation, and the strengthening of supporting sectors such as SMEs and professional services. Socially, MICE activities enhance community skills development but also cause disparities in access and strain local infrastructure. Culturally, while MICE events promote local heritage and serve as a means of cultural diplomacy, they also risk commodifying culture if not accompanied by authentic preservation efforts. The study recommends participatory policies that balance economic growth with the sustainability of the local social and cultural fabric.

The emergence of digital technology and social media has fundamentally changed the landscape of the tourism industry, particularly in facilitating community-based collective travel practices such as open trips and backpacker tourism. This study aims to map the latest trends, characteristics of tourists, and business implications of this phenomenon through a scoping review approach based on the PRISMA-ScR framework. A total of 30 internationally indexed scientific articles (2020–2024) were systematically analyzed to explore the interaction between digital communities, online travel platforms, and the influence of travel influencers on the behavior of Millennial and Gen Z travelers. and open. On the other hand, the existence of conventional travel agents faces the challenge of disintermediation, but at the same time opens up opportunities for strategic collaboration with online communities and micro-influencers to develop narrative-based and community-based tour packages. The results of the research provide a conceptual contribution to the digital tourism literature and offer practical implications for industry players to adopt hybrid business models that are adaptive, inclusive, and relevant to today's digital tourism dynamics. Advanced research suggestions include an in-depth exploration of community business model design as well as the integration of artificial intelligence in personalized travel planning and recommendations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the accommodation contracting process in supporting travel agent services, with a case study at EXO Travel Indonesia. The research identifies key issues such as delays in contract finalization, mismatches between contract prices and reservation system entries, and limited internal coordination, all of which can impact service quality and operational efficiency. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation over a six-month period involving 25 respondents from internal teams and hotel partners. The data were analyzed through processes of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing with ongoing verification. Findings reveal that while the contracting process is generally effective, it still faces administrative and communication challenges. Nevertheless, the presence of clear, detailed, and flexible contracts contributes positively to service delivery by enhancing client satisfaction and strengthening relationships with accommodation partners. The study also finds that service effectiveness is significantly supported by the clarity of contractual information and the proactive role of the contracting team in ensuring smooth cross-department coordination. These insights emphasize the importance of a streamlined and collaborative contracting process in delivering efficient and high-quality services within the travel industry.
