Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of repeated Hajj through the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharīʻah (the objectives of Islamic law), focusing on its social, economic, and spiritual implications. Employing a juridical approach enriched with maqāṣid analysis, the research examines Islamic legal texts, government regulations, and empirical data concerning the implementation of Hajj in Indonesia. The findings categorize repeated Hajj as makruh litanzih (discouraged) due to its adverse effects, such as extended waiting times, economic inefficiencies, and heightened health risks for elderly pilgrims. Notably, over 60% of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are above 60 years old, with waiting periods spanning 20 to 40 years in some regions. This study advocates redirecting financial resources toward supporting others' Hajj, a practice more aligned with maqāṣid principles by prioritizing public welfare (maslahah). It underscores the need for stricter regulations, greater public awareness of contextual Hajj laws, and the application of taisīr fiqh (facilitative jurisprudence) to encourage balanced worship practices. Practical recommendations include prioritizing first-time pilgrims, implementing health screenings, and fostering a collective understanding of maqāṣid-based priorities. By integrating maqāṣid principles, this research contributes to contemporary Islamic legal discourse, offering a framework for reforming Hajj policies in Indonesia. The proposed approach aims to create a more equitable, sustainable, and socially responsible pilgrimage system, aligned with the higher objectives of Islamic law.

Abstract

Integrating zakat and waqf offers significant potential to address multidimensional issues such as poverty, social inequality, and sustainable development. However, fragmented management, limited public understanding of productive waqf, and a lack of digital integration hinder the optimization of their synergy. This research explores the integration of zakat and waqf to support Indonesia's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly within local communities. Using a qualitative literature review approach, the study analyzes the potential, challenges, and opportunities of zakat and waqf integration through thematic analysis of secondary data from academic articles, institutional reports, and legal documents. The findings indicate that zakat and waqf can meet urgent needs, such as food security and health services, while also funding long-term projects like education and agriculture. However, fragmented governmental management, poor public awareness of productive waqf, and inadequate digital integration hinder their full potential. Digital technology plays a transformative role by enhancing transparency, fostering community participation, and improving the integration of zakat and waqf management. This synergy represents a promising strategy to advance the SDGs in Indonesia. Further empirical studies and technological advancements are recommended to optimize this collaboration and ensure its impact on sustainable development.

Abstract

Community-based tourism has emerged as a key strategy for enhancing the economic welfare of local communities, particularly in Komodo Village, which is evolving into a prominent tourist destination. This study aims to analyze the optimization of tourism management in Komodo Village and its role in increasing the income of local MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) by evaluating the integration of Islamic business ethics into local economic practices. A qualitative approach was employed, including in-depth interviews with MSME actors, tourism managers, and tourists, along with direct observations of the economic dynamics in Komodo Village. Tourism in Komodo Village has significantly contributed to the growth of MSMEs and diversification of local livelihoods. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, fluctuations in tourist numbers, and business practices not fully adhering to Islamic principles of justice were identified. Despite these issues, there is a growing awareness among the community about the importance of integrating Islamic values into business practices. The findings suggest that halal tourism and the Islamic economy offer a more inclusive and sustainable model for tourism development. There is a need for more integrated policies in halal tourism management and strategies aimed at strengthening MSMEs to enhance the economic competitiveness of the local community.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Abata Method in enhancing Quran memorization skills among deaf children with special needs at SLB Negeri Pembina, West Sulawesi Province. The Abata Method, which integrates a Visual Phonetic approach, is designed to assist deaf children in reading and memorizing the Quran by utilizing lip vibrations and hand movements. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results indicate that the implementation of the Abata Method has successfully improved Quran memorization skills among deaf children, despite some inhibiting factors such as fluctuations in children's enthusiasm and mood, as well as the limited availability of speech therapists. With support from teachers and parents, the children can gradually memorize the Quran without rigid targets. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of inclusive education curricula in Indonesia and support the goal of equitable access to education for children with special needs.
