Abstract

The instability of cayenne pepper production is caused by the high rate of flower and fruit loss. This research aims to determine the effect of a combination of potassium and silica fertilizer on the production of cayenne pepper plants. The research was conducted in Rembige Village, Selaparang District, Mataram City for 6 months from April-October 2024. The materials used were Ori 212 variety, 20% liquid silica (SiO4), and KCl (60%K2O). The design used is Factorial RAK with two factors. The first factor is the dose of KCl fertilizer with 3 treatment levels, a dose of 150 kg ha-1 (K1), 300 kg ha-1 (K2) and 450 kg ha-1 (K3). The second factor is the concentration of silica fertilizer with 2 treatment levels, without silica (S0) and 2ml L-1 silica (S1). Each experimental unit was carried out 3 times and each repetition carried out observations on 5 plants. Observations and data collection include the number of productive branches, number of flowers, fruit set percentage, number of fruit per plant, and fruit weight per plant. The research results were analyzed using analysis of variance, and a 5% BNJ follow-up test. The results showed that there was an interaction between potassium and silica fertilizer treatments on fruit set parameters. Plants with a potassium dose of 150 kg ha-1 without silica gave the lowest fruit set yield, namely 60.74%.  Potassium and silica had significantly different effects on all observation parameters, where a dose of 300 kg ha-1 of potassium and 2 ml L-1 of silica gave the best results.

Abstract

Abstract: Plant diversity is an important topic in science education at the elementary school level. Unfortunately, conventional teaching methods are often perceived as less engaging for students, resulting in an incomplete understanding of plant diversity, especially in their surrounding environment. This community service activity was conducted to enhance students’ understanding of plant diversity at SDN 2 Merembu through an interactive game-based learning approach. The school’s garden and yard, which contain various types of plants, were used as direct learning media through educational games to create a fun, active, and participatory learning atmosphere. In this activity, students were introduced to different plant species around the school and involved in simple plant characterization activities based on morphological traits. Through games such as “Tebak Tumbuhan” and “Jelajah Taman Sekolah,” students were trained to observe and identify the unique characteristics of each plant species. The results showed strong student enthusiasm and participation during the game-based learning process. The warm and enthusiastic responses suggest that game-based educational strategies can be a relevant and appealing learning method for elementary school children. Abstract

Tingginya timbunan sampah organik harian di perkotaan dan pedesaan yang belum termanfaatkan, serta keberadaan lahan kosong yang tidak produktif, merupakan isu krusial yang memerlukan intervensi. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai inovasi pemanfaatan lahan kosong dan sampah organik melalui metode sosialisasi dan diskusi interaktif. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama dua jam dengan melibatkan diskusi dan tanya jawab tanpa praktik lapangan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif dan analisis tematik terhadap pertanyaan yang diajukan peserta. Hasilnya menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman kognitif peserta. Pergeseran pola pertanyaan dari yang bersifat mendasar menjadi lebih spesifik dan aplikatif, membuktikan bahwa terjadi transfer pengetahuan yang efektif. Peningkatan pemahaman ini menjadi fondasi penting untuk mendorong perubahan sikap dan perilaku masyarakat menuju praktik pengelolaan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan. Meskipun tanpa praktik langsung, kegiatan edukasi partisipatif terbukti efektif sebagai langkah awal untuk membangun kapasitas dan inisiatif mandiri masyarakat dalam mengatasi masalah lingkungan di sekitar mereka.
