Abstract

This article discusses the role of Religious Counselors at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Mojokerto Regency in implementing Aswaja-based deradicalization efforts. Instilling the ideology of moderation is crucial to counter radicalism and foster a tolerant, open, and moderate interpretation of Islam. The values of Aswaja, including tawasuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), and tasamuh (tolerance), are effective in addressing radical tendencies. KUA serves as a central institution for promoting Aswaja ideology and plays an active role in religious guidance to shield society from radical influences. This community engagement activity employs the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which examines the role of religious counselors in KUA Mojokerto Regency in combating radicalism through Aswaja ideology. The implementation consists of three stages. First, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with stakeholders such as KUA officers, counselors, legal experts, and academics to gather factual data on radicalism-related issues and strategies. Second, applying FGD recommendations by creating a module or pocketbook as a reference for counselors to deliver accurate information and guidance aligned with applicable laws and regulations. Third, disseminating the module titled "Deradicalization in the Frame of Aswaja and Law" to Islamic religious counselors in KUA Mojokerto Regency. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of religious moderation and legal frameworks addressing radicalism. The systematic approach is expected to foster a more inclusive society that appreciates the importance of moderation in religious practices.

Abstract

The current study aims to examine the Contemporary Da'wah Rhetoric of Gus Miftah's preaching. However, the focus of this research is on the case of Gus Miftah and the Iced Tea Seller which went viral because Gus Miftah used impolite and offensive words in his preaching. The method used in this journal is Normative Law Research using a statutory approach. The results of this research are 1. The rhetoric of Da'wah in Islam does not only focus on the way of speaking, but also on morals and sincerity in preaching. 2. So far, Gus Miftah, in his preaching method, often uses jokes and impolite words, because the target of Gus Miftah's initial preaching was towards marginalized people, which then carried over to the stage where he lectured. 3. From a legal perspective, speaking or preaching using impolite words can be caught in the Law on Defamation or Insults in accordance with Article 310 of the Criminal Code if it is intended to insult you, but in the case of Gus Miftah and the Ice Tea Seller this is not included in the Law. This was invited because what Gus Miftah said was actually a joke, not an insult. Meanwhile, from the Communication Science perspective, what Gus Miftah said was very unethical for a preacher to say.
