Abstract

The effectiveness of the production process and product quality are crucial in determining how well a company competes. Product quality is one of the main factors in determining the success of a company. PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company engaged in the automotive rubber spare parts industry. One of the products produced is the EPDM-1440 rubber compound or can also be called the E-1440 compound. The E-1140 compound that has been turned into a rubber product has a part number. This study aims to identify the most dominant type of defect or so-called NG (Not Good) and analyze the causes of defects in the E-1440 compound product Part Number 7015-4764 at PT. XYZ. The research method used is the Seven Tools, which includes histograms, Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, U-control charts, and Why-Why Analysis. Based on data for six months September 2024 - February 2025, it was found that the NG type of slit tear was the most dominant with a total of 375 units (37.24%). The U control chart shows that there are data points that are outside the control limits, therefore a revision is made to the data that is outside the control limits and the average product damage (CL) is 0.007, the upper control limit (UCL) is 0.020 and the lower control limit (LCL) is -0.005. The main cause of the emergence of NG torn slits is due to humans, then improvements are proposed by focusing on improving operator training..

Abstract

The aim of this study is to provide an objective overview in buyer-supplier relationship in manufacturing industries to enhance competitiveness in the context of service quality, business ethics, and relational governance. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA model and 53 papers were selected after had been screened. The results showed that: 1) research’s objects encompass various types of manufacturing industries, such as pulp & paper, chemical, mining, automotive, SMEs, and diverse organizations which came from 22 countries, whereas China, European countries, and African countries are likely paid intensive intension regarding the three dimensions of research’s objects. The methods used in existing studies mostly focused on factor analysis, qualitative/descriptive, and system dynamic. However, soft system was the least commonly utilized in buyer-supplier relationship in context of industries’ competitiveness, 2) Service quality positively affects customers’ satisfaction, trust, customer and brand loyalty, and it is also a strong mediator to green logistics performance. Customers’ perceptions on service quality and brand can take precedence over traditional competitive advantages due to increased level of competition and customers’ changing expectations. Adopting ethics as a policy could be an advantage for business to stay competitive. Furthermore, relational governance requires trust and information sharing so that building a trustworthy buyer-supplier relationship is critical for successful supply chain management, 3) Paper industry is still considered a research trend, therefore focusing in integrating both soft and hard systems approach for strategy development is the most appropriate in order to improve its’ competitiveness as the basis for upcoming research. Keywords: business ethics, competitiveness, relational governance, service quality, buyer-supplier relationship

Abstract

Workload is a critical factor influencing employee performance and well-being, particularly in fast-paced work environments such as fast-food restaurants. Employee complaints and differing perceptions regarding the most demanding aspects of the job indicate a potential workload imbalance. This study aims to analyze employee workload levels, identify the most influential NASA-TLX dimensions, and explore factors contributing to high workload at Ayam Geprek Sambel Cenghar Restaurant. The research method used the NASA-TLX (Task Load Index), which measures workload based on six dimensions: mental demands, physical demands, temporal demands, performance, effort, and frustration levels. Data were obtained from 21 respondents from four operational departments: cashiers, kitchen staff, waitstaff, and chili sauce mashers (grinding). The results showed that 48% of employees were in the medium workload category, 38% in the high category, and the remainder in the low category. The dimensions with the highest scores and contributing the most to the overall workload were physical demands and effort, each contributing 18%. Based on respondents' responses, it was found that long work hours (12 hours) were the main factor increasing workload. Therefore, an evaluation of work hours, including the implementation of a rotating work system (shift), was recommended to reduce fatigue and improve operational efficiency.
