Abstract

Shrimp agro-industry is one of the food processing industries, which converts raw shrimp into high-value shrimp processed products. The production system used in shrimp agroindustry to respond market demand is a hybrid make to stock (MTS) and make to order (MTO). The decision to determine which products will be stored as supply sources and which products are made to fulfill orders is a critical decision that must be made on the MTS-MTO hybrid system. The concept of customer order decoupling point (CODP) is used to identify material flow points that connect a product with different consumers. This study aims to present a conceptual model in the MTS-MTO hibrid system based on customer order decoupling point (CODP) which is adjusted to product characteristics, production characteristics and market characteristics in the shrimp agroindustry. The results of the study are presented in a business process model template that describes the order of decisions for storing products or making products to fulfill orders and conceptual models in the form of diagrams named the CODP conceptual model on shrimp agroindustry.

Therefore, the mapping of SME conditions needs to be analyzed. This study aims to map the SME conditions and find out SME’s sustainability index. This study uses a multidimensional scaling method through ecological, social, economic, technological, and institutional dimensions. A case study was carried out at Banana Chips SMEs in Lampung Province. These SMEs are the mainstays of Lampung Province. The results show that the SME condition was divided into three categories: poor, good, and very good. The status of the sustainability of MSMEs in each dimension was divided into two groups, namely the poor category for the technology dimension and good category both for the ecological, social, economic, and institutional dimensions. The results of the mapping of SME’s sustainability index produced several improvement strategies for SMEs.

Abstract

Indonesia's innovation management focuses on enhancing competitiveness, independence, and economy through research and development, with university-based business incubators connecting research and commercialization. Three public incubators have an A rating, indicating an 86 percent survival rate. This research aims to explore the level of efficiency of business incubator performance, and level of tenant satisfaction, and classify business incubator services into different levels of satisfaction/dissatisfaction through a satisfaction matrix. The research employs a quantitative method, utilizing a Paired Sample t-test and IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) matrix. The results show that job creation (on average per year) exceeds the benchmarking value, so it can be said that the public universities’ business incubator has contributed to job creation. There are differences in all variables for the level of effectiveness and importance which have negative values or tenants feel dissatisfied with the services provided by the business incubator, business incubator services that need attention are IP protection and startup legal, exhibitions and business matching with investors or potential partners, business network support after graduation and business expansion assistance after graduation.

Abstract

It is difficult for social startups to select the most relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) because it is difficult to find a shared impact language to code, classify, and interpret the impact. This study aims to determine key impact performance indicators for assessing success in agricultural social startups in Indonesia. We applied multi-case studies approach to four leading Indonesian agricultural social startups. In total, eight experts consisting of co-founders, human resources managers, and managing partners on each social startup have been asked to assess the importance of success criteria and the performance of the corresponding company in fulfilling the requirements. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was applied to determine the relative importance of impact themes and strategic goals. The AHP results showed that smallholder agriculture is the most critical impact theme to achieve as success criteria. Five of the 12 strategic goals with the highest priority were explained as candidates of KPIs: the financial health of farmers, better and stable pricing, social equity and justice, farm profitability, and food availability and diversity. The KPIs developed in this study are anticipated to be utilized by stakeholders involved in the agricultural social startup ecosystems, including practitioners, impact investors, and policy-makers. Keywords: social entrepreneurship, social impact, social performance, impact assessment, and evaluation

Abstract

Merger organization may encounter contra and supportive conditions. Organizational changes due to merger often occur both process and knowledge intertia. Especially to a research and development agency which its core activity is innovation. Merger among R&D organizations is aimed to achieve legit images but also may delay innovation process. This study measure the effect of knowledge vacuum as a moderating variable between distinctive competencies and process of innovation. 36 targeted researchers and engineers from various former public research & development agencies were involves in a questionnaire survey. Data was analyzed using PLS-SEM. Results show that distinctive competencies significantly affect process of innovation, meanwhile knowledge vacuum is not a significant moderating variable between distinctive competencies and process of innovation. The most important aspects of distinctive competencies are to define detailed process of innovation from start to end and to be able to commercialize innovation output. These aspects will boost changing organization to achieve new goals and maintain innovation process. In this case of insignificant knowledge vacuum, the possibility of open innovation is adequate.

Abstract

The tuna agro-industrial cold supply chain faces complex challenges. The implementation of cold chains has economic, social, and environmental implications. Breaking the cold chain directly reduces tuna quality. To overcome these challenges, an effective and efficient cold chain management method that focuses on the aspects of risk, performance, value chain, and sustainability is required. This study aimed to analyze the methods used in cold chain management and develop an integrated framework to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of sustainable cold supply chain management in tuna agro-industries. This study uses a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. Scientific article search databases using Scopus, Google Scholar, and others in 2013-2023. The selection resulted in 86 articles for further studies. The results of this study show that there are still very few cold chain studies in the tuna agro-industry. Cold chain studies on risk, performance, and sustainability aspects are dominated by quantitative methods with the following percentages: 76%, 58%, and 92%, respectively. By contrast, studies on the value chain aspect are dominated by descriptive qualitative methods (89%). This study found that the tuna cold chain problem in Indonesia is a soft problem on the upstream side and a hard problem on the downstream side. These two properties are rarely considered in single cold chain studies. The properties of the soft and hard systems were studied using qualitative and quantitative methods, respectively. In future research, we will develop an integrated framework for tuna agro-industry cold chain management in terms of performance, risk, value chain, and sustainability by considering the soft and hard aspects of the cold chain from onboard the ship to the consumer.

Abstract

This study revisits and analyzes the causes leading to firm exit in divestiture spin-offs over the past five years, aiming to consolidate findings from recent literature and uncover evolving trends. Using a systematic literature review of Scopus publications from 2019 to 2024 and employing the PRISMA methodology, this study analyzed a final sample of 97 journal articles to examine the key factors influencing divestiture spin-offs. The results identify four primary causes for divestiture spin-offs: market periphery and overlap, asset redeployment, unprofitable resource utilization, and the critical timing decision between redeployment and divestiture. These insights reveal a significant shift in research focus, offering valuable knowledge for executives and management to move beyond traditional views and understand the underlying causes in a more nuanced way. This study provides essential guidance for executives, firm management, and policymakers, supporting informed decision-making in business unit divestitures and contributing to a more sustainable economic cycle. The originality and value of this research lie in its comprehensive identification of the causes behind firm exit in divestiture spin-offs, laying a robust foundation for future research and practical applications.
