Abstract

This study explores the educational thought of the Ikhwan al-Safa a significant group of thinkers in Islamic intellectual history. Known for their comprehensive approach to knowledge and education, the Ikhwan al-Safa produced influential philosophical and educational treatises during the Islamic Golden Age. This research focuses on analyzing their writings to uncover their foundational principles regarding education. Key themes include the integration of various branches of knowledge, the cultivation of moral virtues, and the pursuit of wisdom as a holistic educational goal. The study employs a qualitative approach with content analysis, examining primary texts attributed to the Ikhwan al-Safa to elucidate their educational philosophy. The findings aim to provide insights into how their educational ideas resonate with contemporary educational challenges and contribute to discussions on holistic education in the modern context.

Abstract

This study explores the views of Imam Az-Zarnuji on ethical education, as outlined in his classical work, "Ta'lim al-Muta'allim". The research highlights the importance of ethical education in the development of individual character and morality from an Islamic perspective. Through textual analysis, this study identifies the ethical principles taught by Imam Az-Zarnuji, such as sincere intentions, respect for teachers, the importance of beneficial knowledge, and the continuous effort in seeking knowledge. The study also discusses the relevance of these teachings in the context of modern education, demonstrating how traditional principles can be applied to address current moral and ethical challenges. The findings of this research aim to enrich the understanding of ethical education and offer practical guidance for educators and learners in the endeavor to cultivate noble character in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This study examines the educational thought of Hasan Langgulung, a significant figure in contemporary Islamic education. Through an analysis of Langgulung's works and writings, this research explores the main principles shaping his educational views. The study employs a qualitative approach using content analysis, where Langgulung's works are read and analyzed in depth to identify key themes such as the integration of science and religion, a holistic approach to education, and the importance of comprehensive individual development. Data validation is achieved through triangulation by comparing the analysis results with the perspectives of other experts in secondary literature and consulting academics with expertise in Islamic education. The findings of this research are expected to provide deep insights into Hasan Langgulung's contributions to educational theory and practice, and offer valuable perspectives for the development of a more integrative and holistic educational system.
