Abstract

Mathematics problem-solving is a process to apply te previous knowledge into a new situation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the students’ errors to finish mathematics problem-solving exercises. The subject of the study were 15 students of Xa grade of  SMAK Stella Maris Niki-Niki. The researcher used a qualitative description as the method and collected the data through observation, test, and interview. In analyzing the data, the researcher adopted a model from Miles and Huberman with a validity test through the triangulation technique. The result of this study showed that the student’s errors in problem-solving mathematics in the form of error concept, principle, technical and algorithm/procedure. In general, the factors cause students error were low ability to understand the concept, students did not accurate and they were unfamiliar to finish mathematics problem-solving exercises.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan prestasi belajar matematika siswa pada pembelajaran model kooperatif tipe NHT. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan model pre-experimental  yang didesain dalam bentuk one-group pretest-posttest design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah keseluruhan siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Soe sebanyak delapan kelas dan sampel sebanyak satu kelas yaitu kelas VIII B yang  dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik sampling purposive. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes yang diberikan sebanyak dua kali yaitu pre-test dan post-test. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal berbentuk uraian. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas sebagai uji prasyarat, uji t sampel berpasangan  dan skor gain normalisasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan prestasi belajar matematika siswa pada pembelajaran model kooperatif tipe NHT. Peningkatan prestasi belajar matematika siswa berada pada kategori rendah dengan rata-rata skor gain sebesar 0,27.

Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan salah satu tujuan pembelajaran matematika. Pemahaman konsep matematis bukan sekedar mengenal dan mengetahui suatu konsep, tetapi mampu mengungkapkan kembali konsep yang dipelajari dalam bentuk yang lebih mudah dimengerti serta mampu mengaplikasikannya dalam pemecahan masalah. Analisis hasil kerja siswa SMPN Satap Oeusapi menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa masih rendah. Penyebabnya adalah konsep matematika yang bersifat abstrak dan siswa kurang diberi kesempatan untuk mengkonstruksi pengetahuannya sendiri. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan diatas adalah menerapkan pembelajaran berpendekatan CTL. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada kelas dengan pembelajaran berpendekatan CTL dan kelas dengan pembelajaran tanpa berpendekatan CTL. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif model quasi eksperimen yang dirancang dalam bentuk nonequivalent control group design  dengan melibatkan dua kelas penelitian yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan sebagai alat pengumpulan data adalah tes pemahaman konsep matematis berupa soal uraian. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji t-sampel independen. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada kelas dengan pembelajaran berpendekatan CTL lebih baik dari kelas dengan pembelajaran tanpa berpendekatan CTL. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran berpendekatan CTL berada pada kategori sedang dengan rata-rata skor gain 0,6.

Abstract

This research aimed to produce a study of students' mathematical concept understanding abilities in classes with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model learning and classes that did not receive RME model learning. This research was a quantitative method of quasi experiment model designed in the form of non-equivalent control group design involving two research classes determined using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a test of students' mathematical concept understanding ability in the form of description questions. The data analysis technique in this study used an independent sample t-test and N-gain score. The results of the analysis showed that students' mathematical concept understanding ability in the class that received RME model learning was better than that of those who did not receive RME model learning. The increase in students' mathematical concept understanding ability in the class with RME model learning was in a low category with an average gain score of 0.025. The low increase is due to the limited learning time at school during the adaptation period of new habits, so that learning with the RME model does not run effectively.

Abstract

Students’ ability to mathematical literacy is very important in their math learning process. Less ability of mathematical literacy as students’ way of thinking, argumentation, and creating is no improvement so they face difficulties in solving math problems in their learning process related to real life. The analysis of the result from students of SMP Kristen 1 Mollo Selatan shows that they are still a low inability of mathematical literacy. The effect is questions that used as the exercise are common questions and not related to real life. To solve this problem, the researcher implemented Problem Based Learning (PBL) as a teaching literacy to improve students’ mathematical literacy abilities. This study will compare two classes in which one of them treated with PBL one of the other ones was not treated with PBL. A quasi-experiment quantitative method that used in this study with nonequivalent control group design. Two classes were selected as the sample by using simple random sampling. An essay test related to students’ mathematical literacy ability was used as the instrument to collect the data. The analysis technique in this study was an independent sample t-test to the result showed that the class which was treated used the PBL method was better than the class which was not treated used the PBL method. Students’ mathematical literacy ability in the PBL class was significantly proved in the high category with the score gain 0,8

Abstract

This study aims to identify the learning styles of students in the mathematics education study program at the Soe Education Institute. This research is a qualitative descriptive study which describes and describes in more detail the students' learning styles. The primary data sources in this study were 86 students of the Soe Education Institute's mathematics education study program class 2016-2019. The secondary data source is the student attendance list. Data collection techniques in this study were in the form of learning style questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and documentation. The results showed that the mathematics learning styles of students in the mathematics education study program were different in each class. The mathematics learning styles of the 2016 students of the class of 2016 tend to be evenly distributed across the three learning styles, namely 35% visual, 30% auditory and 35% kinesthetic. The mathematics learning style of students from the 2017 class of 13 people only tends to 2 learning styles, namely 55% visual and 45% auditory. The mathematics learning styles of students from the 2018 batch of 30 people tend to be evenly distributed across the three learning styles, namely 30% visual, 30% auditory and 40% kinesthetic. The mathematics learning style of students from the 2019 batch of 17 people is dominated by visual learning styles of 59%, then 35% auditory and 6% kinesthetic.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan apa saja yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dalam pemecahan masalah pada mata kuliah persamaan diferensial. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kampus STKIP Soe pada semester genap tahun akademik 2016/2017 dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 15 mahasiswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan datanya melalui observasi, analisis hasil kerja dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis Miles and Huberman dengan uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Triangulasi teknik dilakukan dengan observasi, analisis hasil kerja mahasiswa dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah kesalahan yang dilakukan mahasiswa pada tahap pertama meliputi kesalahan fakta 7%, kesalahan konsep 13.33%, kesalahan dan operasi 7%. Kesalahan tahap kedua yaitu kesalahan fakta 13.33%, kesalahan konsep 13.33% dan juga operasi 13.33%. Kesalahan tahap ketiga adalah kesalahan fakta 12.22, kesalahan konsep 50.56%, kesalahan prinsip 16.67% dan kesalahan operasi 15% serta seluruh mahasiswa melakukan kesalahan tahap empat karena tidak melakukan pengecekan kembali dalam tahapan pemecahan masalah. Solusi yang ditawarkan yaitu mahasiswa harus dibiasakan untuk lebih teliti dalam menyelesaikan soal sesuai tahapan pemecahan masalah khususnya pengecekan kembali serta memperdalam kemampuan dasar turunan dan integralnya..Kata Kunci: analisis kesalahan, pemecahan masalah, persamaan diferensial. The purpose of this is research was to know of errors made by student in solving problems in the course of differential equations. This research was conducted at STKIP Soe Campus in the even semester of academic year 2016/2017 with subjects in this research as many as 15 students. this type of research is qualitative descriptive with the technique of collecting data through observation, analysis of work result and interview. The data analysis technique is Miles and Huberman analysis technique with validity test data by triangulation technique. Triangulation technique is done by observation, analysis of student work and interview. The results of this study is the mistakes made by students in the first stage includes 7% fact errors, 13.33% concept error, 7% error and operation. The second phase error is 13.33% error fact, 13.33% concept error and 13.33% operation. The third stage error is fact errors 12.22, concept error 50.56%, 16.67% principle errors and 15% operation errors and all students make a four stage error for not checking again in the troubleshooting stages. The solution offered is that students begin to be familiarized to solve the problem in accordance with the stages of problem solving, especially the re-checking and the students must deepen their basic and integral abilities. In addition, students must be more thorough in solving the problem so that mistakes that need not be done can be minimized.Keywords: error analysis, differential equations, problem solving.

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to develop a graph theory textbook that is valid, practical and effective in improving students' mathematical representation abilities in learning graph theory in discrete mathematics courses. The method used is research and development with the Plomp model development design which consists of five stages in the form of (1) initial investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/construction, (4) tests, evaluations and revisions, (5) implementation. The subjects in this study were students who took discrete mathematics subjects, academic year 2018/2019 Mathematics education program STKIP Soe as many as two classes. Research data collection techniques in the form of observation, tests and questionnaires. The product in the form of a graph theory textbook that was developed was tested for validity based on the results of the assessment of the expert team as a validator. The practicality of the product was tested using questionnaire analysis of student and lecturer responses. Test the effectiveness of textbooks in improving the ability of mathematical representation is done through quasi-experimental research with analysis techniques using independent sample t test and normalized gain score. The results showed that the graph theory textbooks developed were valid, practical and effective in improving students' mathematical representation abilities.
