Abstract

This paper discusses the dialectical thoughts of Ibn Rushd and theologians on divine metaphysics. The discussion is based on the study of criticisms and dialogues on the theologians’ view on metaphysics. Three important points emerge: firstly, how Ibn Rushd presented the basis of his critical arguments; secondly, the process of Ibn Rushd’s methods of criticism on the theologians’ metaphysical reasons and lastly, the content of Ibn Rushd’s criticisms of the theologians’ metaphysical reason. This paper provides a detailed description of the themes as accurate and comprehensive ways to provide a basis of Ibn Rushd’s criticism. This study contributes to encouraging and changing the views of scholars of Islamic theology that Ibn Rushd, apart from being a philosopher, is also a critical thinker in the field of Islamic theology.

Abstract

Abstract

Kedua, metode penafsiran pendekatan maqashidi menekankan pada tiga pilar, yaitu kesadaran sejarah (al-wa’yu al-tarikh), kesadaran teoritis (al-wa’yu al-nazhari), kesadaran praksis (al-wa’yu al-nazhari).

Abstract

Abstract

Thematic interpretation of the Qur'an is a method of interpretation that involves collecting verses from the Qur'an related to a particular theme. This approach is becoming increasingly important in dealing with the difficulties faced by society today. In the era of information and globalization, interpretation of the themes of the Koran can provide solutions to problems that are developing in various parts of the world. The thematic interpretation method can also be prepared practically and systematically by following the chronology of the revelation of the verses, so that it can keep up with the times by adapting to all places, situations and conditions. One of the figures who provides ideas and solution techniques in understanding the text of Al- Qur'an is Yusuf al-Qardhawi. He emphasized the importance of gaining a good and thorough understanding by avoiding narrow and unfounded textual interpretations. This article is a literature study that focuses on al-Qardhawi's method in understanding the text of the Qur'an. The thematic interpretation approach introduced by al-Qardhawi allows readers of the Qur'an to understand the messages of the Qur'an more broadly and are relevant to the contemporary context.

Abstract

Because the Qur'an is authentic in every era, the Qur'an should be interpreted appropriately according to the demands of life. Basically, life has changed in various situations and conditions, including lifestyle, human relations, globalization, migration, advances in technology and knowledge. Modernization has raised serious problems regarding the Koran as the main source of Islamic jurisprudence which appears "unworkable", except by a handful of Muslims. If there is no reinterpretation of the verses of the Qur'an, it is very likely that Islamic jurisprudence will be rejected, considered irrelevant and counter-productive to the needs of life. To be able to carry out re-interpretation, a Maqashidi interpretive approach is needed in interpreting the Al-Qur'an, especially in ethical-legal verses. There are two significant implications in the maqashidi interpretation approach; First, the maqashid interpretation paradigm is a mindset and way of looking at the Al-Qur'an and its interpretation with the concept of maqashid al-shari'ah as the starting point. The concept of maqashid is the main basis for reasoning and forms an interpretation system. Second, the interpretive method of the maqashidi approach emphasizes three pillars, namely historical awareness (al-wa'yu al-tarikh), theoretical awareness (al-wa'yu al-nazhari), practical awareness (al-wa'yu al-nazhari) . Practically, the steps in maqashidi interpretation are contextualization, decontextualization and recontextualization.

Abstract

The rise of religious authority among young people in Indonesia has become increasingly prominent, particularly with the proliferation of da'wah movements across diverse domains. This trend is evidenced by the surge of Islamic activism initiated by Indonesian youth. This study seeks to explore the methods through which young individuals assert and cultivate their religious influence and the ethos of Islamic resurgence within the public sphere. Conducting field research in Probolinggo, Bondowoso, and Lumajang, supplemented by netnography examining youth social behaviors and existing literature, this paper unveils several key findings. Firstly, young Indonesians establish da'wah communities in various formats, such as majelis shalawat, sarwah, and majlas. Secondly, they exhibit a preference for popular shalawat music in the Indonesian language. Thirdly, there is a widespread utilization of social media platforms as a means of disseminating their da'wah messages. Lastly, young Muslims manifest their religious authority through fashionable and contemporary styles of dress.

Abstract

This investigation explores how the prophetic tradition (hadith) of Prophet Muhammad, "Naddarallahu Imra'an," intersects with modern deep learning methodologies within Islamic educational contexts. The selected hadith delineates a structured cognitive progression-comprising active listening, deep comprehension, memorization, and the ethical dissemination of knowledge-which functions as a cornerstone for reflective and transformative pedagogy. Utilizing a qualitative framework grounded in library research, this study examines the normative dimensions of the text, establishes a conceptual dialogue with Michael Fullan’s deep learning paradigm, and synthesizes contemporary literature on digital instructional innovations and meaningful learning. The findings indicate that modern deep learning principles-specifically the cultivation of critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication, and character-strongly resonate with classical Islamic tenets such as trustworthiness (amanah), moral integrity, and the internal processing of knowledge. This synthesis highlights that contemporary Islamic schooling can successfully incorporate digital tools and modern pedagogical strategies while preserving its core spiritual values and academic ethics. Furthermore, the study underscores the necessity of redefining the educator's role into that of a facilitator who fosters student agency, active participation, and the contextual transfer of knowledge. Consequently, an Islamic instructional model rooted in deep learning offers an adaptable, transformative, and practical framework designed to prepare students for the global and technological demands of the 21st century. This research provides both theoretical insights and practical guidance for contemporary Islamic educational strategies, bridging prophetic values with modern competencies.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has generated multidimensional challenges that extend beyond public health concerns, affecting economic stability, social welfare, education, and poverty reduction efforts worldwide. Developing countries, particularly those with significant socioeconomic inequalities, continue to face difficulties in achieving inclusive and sustainable recovery. In this context, Islamic philanthropy—comprising zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf—offers substantial potential as a faith-based social finance mechanism capable of supporting sustainable development objectives. This article examines the prospects of integrating Islamic philanthropic instruments with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework established by the United Nations. Employing a qualitative literature review approach, the study analyzes scholarly publications, institutional reports, and policy documents related to Islamic social finance and sustainable development. The findings indicate that Islamic philanthropy shares normative and operational similarities with several SDGs, particularly those concerning poverty alleviation, quality education, healthcare access, gender equality, decent work, and reduced inequalities. The integration of Islamic philanthropy with SDG-oriented programs can strengthen resource mobilization, improve social protection systems, and enhance community resilience in the post-pandemic era. Furthermore, digital transformation and collaborative governance among governments, philanthropic institutions, civil society organizations, and international development agencies are essential for maximizing the effectiveness of Islamic social finance. The study concludes that aligning Islamic philanthropic practices with SDGs frameworks can contribute significantly to inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development while preserving the ethical foundations of Islamic economic principles.
