Abstract

The main objective of this study is the vocabulary comparison betweenthe Acehnese and Patani languages. The purpose of this study is to: (1)to find out the equal meaning of the same vocabulary between Acehneseand Melayu Patani language; and (2) know the similarity of vocabularywith different meanings between Acehnese and Melayu Patani language.Since this study aimed to describe the difference and the similarity ofmeaning between Acehnese and Melayu Patani language vocabulary, theauthors chose to use a descriptive qualitative method. The participants ofthis study were 2 students of Acehnese and a Patanian of EnglishEducation Program Study at Bina Bangsa Getsempena University. Thedata were collected through observation and a depth interview. Theresults of this study consisted of 53 comparison vocabularies thatcontained 41 equations between Malay Patani and Aceh languagevocabularies with the same meaning and 12 equations of Malay Pataniand Aceh language vocabularies with different meanings.

Abstract

One of the problems encountered in learning mathematics is that students still have difficulty when solving problems that require reasoning and accuracy. This condition is caused by various factors, one of which is the learning model used by the teacher. This study aims to determine the learning success of students taught with the TPSS type cooperative learning model on SPLTV material and to describe student activities during the learning process. This research used quantitative approach with pretest posttest group design. The research population was 160 students of class X, while the research sample was X-IPA 1 class with 27 students. Data collection was done through tests and observations, the collected data were analysed using statistical tests (t-test). The results showed that: (1) there is an increase in student learning outcomes taught using the TPSS model as seen through the difference in the mean scores of the pretest and posttest which increased from 44.83 to 75.76 with a difference of 30.93. The hypothesis test results show the value of tcount> ttable (4.46 > 1.71) so it is concluded that students taught with the TPSS type cooperative learning model on SPLTV material can achieve learning success. (2) Student activity in learning using the TPSS model on SPLTV material is included in the good category with a percentage of 80%.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Problem Based Learning (PBL)-based arithmetic row and series learning tool to improve the critical thinking skills of high school class X students. The research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg & Gall model which is simplified into three stages, namely preliminary study, product development, and implementation. The products developed are in the form of teaching modules and PBL-based Student Worksheets (LKPD). The research subjects amounted to 19 students in class X of SMA Negeri 15 Adidarma. Data was obtained through expert validation sheets and critical thinking skills tests in the form of pretest and posttest. The validation results showed that the learning tool obtained a percentage of 76.94% with the valid category. The results of the implementation showed that the average pretest score of 48.11 increased to 79.74 in the posttest. The N-Gain test result of 0.62 was included in the medium category. Thus, Problem Based Learning learning tools are declared valid and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in arithmetic row and series material.
