Abstract

Religious teachings are essential to note in seeing the phenomenon of massive Islamic social movements that occur around the world and awareness of a humanitarian movement based on dogmatic values and moral foundations. Previous studies have not explored the aspect of religious teachings on Islamic social movements in the context of armed conflict, so this research must be carried out. Previous studies have focused more on antitheses to misinterpretations of Islamic teachings and less on accommodating philanthropic perspectives in war analysis and macro implications in the digital age. This study covers the interpretation of Islamic teachings that encourage philanthropy, Islamic social movements, and morality-based solidarity in response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The desk research method is used to collect data through the Quran, Hadith, social media, and library research. The stages of analysis include the interpretation of the postulates that encourage philanthropy, the perspective of social movements, and fundamental moral theories to provide a holistic picture of the phenomenon of Islamic philanthropy in the digital era. The findings of this study include the conclusions of Islamic religious teachings that invite Muslims to do philanthropy, the internalization of religious teachings as a driver of Islamic social movements, and moral encouragement that influences an actor’s action in doing philanthropy. The resulting recommendations involve the collaboration of state institutions with all levels of society to ensure security and increase legitimacy in conducting fundraising and providing assistance to victims of armed conflict in Palestine.

Abstract

Environmental issues are currently an interesting topic to discuss because of damage such as air pollution, deforestation, and damage to flora and fauna. Humans have a role in exploiting the environment due to a lack of awareness of the harmonious relationship between humans and the environment. Although Islam as a religion of rahmatan lil alaminprovides guidelines on man's relationship with the environment in the Qur'an, this tolerance is beginning to disappear and is increasingly marginalized. In this study, researchers used Abdullah Saeed's contextual interpretation approach to interpret Qur'anic verses that prohibited environmental damage. This prohibition is considered to have instructional value and falls into the category of legal ethics, in Abdullah Saeed's view. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive analysis, with literature studies as a data collection technique. Abdullah Saeed's contextual interpretation approach involves four essential steps. The survey results highlight the relationship between humans and the environment in the Quran, provide new insights to overcome the environmental crisis, and propose solutions based on the Quran’s guidelines to guide humanity.

Abstract

Funerals are one of the activities associated with and embedded in religious practices. In the three major sects of Buddhism, there are several different practices in burying the body, even though they refer to a single teaching or concept of death. This is interesting to discuss, considering that most religions worldwide use the same practice. This study explores how funeral practices are in the Buddhist tradition and what underlies these differences. Qualitative methods are adopted to answer these questions with a literature study approach. As a result, each Buddhist sect shows its uniqueness through reflection on Buddhism in general, which is not fixed on just one rigid teaching. For instance, the Sky funeral within the Vajrayāna tradition provides a perspective that humans are bound to nature. Giving bodies to birds and other animals signifies the strength of their bond. The practice of cremation in Theravāda is a way to release the physical remains left behind in the world. With this method, they can easily continue their next spiritual journey. At the same time, Mahayāna Buddhism describes a flexible perspective on religion and funeral practices. This study also suggests a more specific approach to looking at the complexity of funerals in Buddhism, especially in areas where Buddhism is a minority, such as Indonesia.

Abstract

Political Islam in Indonesia plays an important role in democratic development, although it is often faced with challenges in managing the relationship between religion and the state. As a Muslim-majority country, the application of Islamic values in politics raises debates about its compatibility with democratic principles such as freedom, equality and pluralism. On the one hand, Islamic politics can strengthen political ethics and social justice, but on the other hand, it has the potential to trigger polarization if not managed properly. This research explores the contribution of Islamic politics to democracy in Indonesia, particularly in instilling ethical values, strengthening public participation, and building inclusive dialogue. Using a qualitative approach and literature review, this research analyzes literature that discusses the role of Islamic politics in Indonesia's democratic dynamics. The results show that Islamic politics contributes through the values of justice, welfare, and transparency, as well as expanding political participation through religious parties and organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah. Islamic politics also plays a role in creating interfaith dialogue and resolving social conflicts. The findings confirm the importance of inclusive and democracy-oriented Islamic politics to unite plural societies. However, this research is limited to a literature review, so a field study is needed for a more comprehensive understanding. Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of guidance and counselling (GC) interventions in enhancing academic resilience among students. Academic resilience enables individuals to adapt to and overcome educational challenges; however, a comprehensive review of GC’s role in this development is lacking. Using a systematic review following PRISMA guidelines, the study searched reputable databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and DOAJ, for empirical studies published within the last 10 years. The inclusion criteria focused on studies involving GC interventions across various educational levels that measured academic resilience. The extracted data covered intervention types, duration, target population, resilience tools, and outcomes. The review found that both individual and group GC interventions effectively improve dimensions of academic resilience, including self-regulation, optimism, self-efficacy, and failure resilience. Interventions emphasizing coping skills, social support, and cognitive restructuring showed significant positive effects. The study highlights the vital role of counsellors in designing GC programs to strengthen academic resilience, offering insights for developing GC curricula, and guiding education practitioners and policymakers
