Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Guided and Independent Field Experience Program (PPL) at State Junior High School 13 Lhokseumawe, conducted in 2024. The research method employed is qualitative, using an action research approach to evaluate and enhance the teaching competencies of prospective teachers during the PPL. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation to gather information about students' experiences across the four stages of PPL: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results show that each stage of PPL provides valuable experience for student teachers, with a focus on developing classroom management skills, teaching techniques, and integration of character education values in learning. The main challenges faced by students are effective classroom management, declining student interest in learning in the digital era, and changing attitudes towards educators. The implications of this study indicate the need for the development of more creative classroom management skills, the use of technology in learning, and strengthening professional reflection in developing prospective teachers' competencies.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia is currently facing global dynamics that demand a reinterpretation of its paradigm to remain relevant, moderate, and competitive. The traditional paradigm, which tends to create a dichotomy between religious sciences and general knowledge, needs to be reintegrated into a holistic and transformative educational framework that is firmly rooted in transcendent values. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research. Data were collected from recent literature, including books, journal articles, and research reports, that discuss the development of Islamic education, curriculum, and pedagogical transformation. The analysis was conducted descriptively and comparatively to examine the principles, values, and strategies of implementing Islamic education in the contemporary era. The findings highlight five key components of the reinterpretation of Islamic education: educational objectives, curriculum, social relevance, pedagogical approaches, and transcendent values. Table 1 presents a summary of the principles and their practical implications, while Figure 1 illustrates the interconnection of these components, positioning transcendent values as the foundational element. This model underscores the importance of integrating religious sciences with science and technology, strengthening the role of teachers, utilizing digital technology, and instilling social justice and ecological awareness. Consequently, Islamic educational institutions can play a strategic role in nurturing a Muslim generation that is spiritually grounded, globally competitive, and capable of addressing contemporary challenges without losing its divine orientation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMA Negeri 1 Gandapura and to identify the challenges encountered in its application. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that PAI teachers have made efforts to integrate HOTS elements in lesson planning through 4C-based lesson plans (Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication) and by applying discussion methods and contextual learning that connect Islamic values with students’ real-life situations. However, the classroom implementation of HOTS still faces several obstacles, including limited teacher understanding of HOTS concepts, low student engagement in critical thinking processes, and inadequate facilities and evaluation systems to support analytical and creative learning. These findings indicate that the implementation of HOTS in PAI is in a transitional phase from conceptual planning to reflective practice. The study recommends strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competencies through reflective training, optimizing technology-based learning media, and developing evaluation systems that foster analytical thinking and moral application in daily life.

Abstract

One of the key terms used in the Qur’an and Hadith to describe human beings is al-Insān, which reflects the spiritual, intellectual, and moral potential that can be developed through education. This study aims to explore in depth the meaning and characteristics of al-Insān as portrayed in the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and to examine its implications for curriculum design and learning strategies in Islamic education. The research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Primary data were obtained from Hadiths relevant to the concept of humanity and education, while secondary data were drawn from scholarly literature discussing Islamic educational philosophy, prophetic values, and theories of human potential development. The analysis was conducted through descriptive, textual, and reflective approaches to interpret the meaning and educational relevance of al-Insān. The findings reveal that al-Insān in Hadith is depicted as a being endowed with intellect, soul, heart, and moral responsibility, functioning both as a servant of God and a steward on earth. Prophetic values such as honesty, commitment, and compassion form the core of character development in learners. The concept of al-Insān al-Kāmil—the perfected human—emerges as the ultimate goal of Islamic education, necessitating a value-based curriculum and balanced learning strategies that foster both spiritual and intellectual dimensions. Thus, the concept of al-Insān in the Hadith provides a strong conceptual foundation for Islamic education, aiming to cultivate individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and morally upright.
