Abstract

Local wisdom represents unique knowledge and practices held by specific communities, passed down through generations. This study explores the local wisdom in the Mepum Sadimop fairy tale of the Ketengban Tribe in Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this descriptive research employs interviews, data grouping, and translation to analyze cultural phenomena. Findings reveal that the Mepum Sadimop fairy tale encapsulates local knowledge (e.g., tools, materials, and natural resources), cultural values (e.g., kinship, cooperation, and honesty), and traditional practices (e.g., stone-burning ceremonies and the use of Balapu attire). These elements embody the tribe's identity, social norms, and survival strategies. This study not only preserves the oral tradition but also underscores its relevance in promoting cultural education and sustainable community development. By documenting these traditions, this research contributes to safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and inspires further interdisciplinary studies on indigenous knowledge system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of the concepts of proactive mind and heart and analogy as the philosophy of language within the Basic Leadership Training (LKTD) program for Papuan students under the guidance of the Binterbusih Foundation. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation of both trainees and instructors. Thematic analysis was used to identify the symbolic and reflective meanings embedded in the application of these concepts during the training process. The findings reveal that the proactive mind and heart serve as a foundation for developing self-awareness, responsibility, and autonomous action among students. Meanwhile, the use of analogy as a linguistic-philosophical tool effectively bridges abstract leadership concepts with the participants’ concrete experiences. The synergy between these two approaches fosters reflective leadership characterized by spiritual awareness, social empathy, and intrinsic motivation. Moreover, the study highlights that Papuan culture, rich in symbolism and metaphor, provides a fertile ground for character and leadership education rooted in local wisdom. Thus, integrating proactive thinking and analogical reasoning not only enhances the cognitive and affective dimensions of leadership learning but also enriches the ethnolinguistic and spiritual aspects of higher education in Papua. This model is recommended as a foundation for developing culturally responsive leadership curricula within Indonesia’s multicultural context.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis integrasi konsep hati pikiran proaktif dan analogi sebagai filsafat bahasa dalam materi Latihan Kepemimpinan Tingkat Dasar (LKTD) bagi mahasiswa Papua binaan Yayasan Binterbusih.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical discourse of a Tempo.co news article titled “The West Papua National Committee Rejects Gibran Rakabuming’s Assignment to Papua” using Teun A. van Dijk’s model. The research focuses on three main dimensions: text structure, social cognition, and social context. A qualitative descriptive method was applied by analyzing the article published on July 11, 2025. The findings indicate that thematically, the news emphasizes Papua’s resistance to the government’s symbolic policy. Lexical choices such as “image-making” and “puppet” reveal ideological opposition to dominant power. Cognitively, Tempo.co demonstrates critical journalistic ideology oriented toward human rights and social justice, presenting Papua as a discourse subject rather than an object. In the social context, the news reflects political dynamics following the inauguration of the Prabowo–Gibran administration amid issues of legitimacy and political dynasty. Overall, the article functions not only as factual reporting but also as an ideological space for negotiating power and resistance. This study highlights the role of media in shaping public perception of Papua and reinforces the position of critical journalism in Indonesia.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis wacana kritis pada berita Tempo.co berjudul “Komite Nasional Papua Barat Tolak Penugasan Gibran Rakabuming ke Papua” dengan menggunakan model Teun A. van Dijk.
