Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and uric acid are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia, especially among elderly populations in rural areas. Lack of knowledge, limited access to healthcare services, and poor early detection exacerbate this situation. This community service program aimed to implement the empowerment of the Yasinan Group (Qur’an Recitation Group) in controlling non-communicable diseases through nursing care based on complementary therapy. The program was carried out among a men’s Yasinan group in RT 01 RW 02, Tlogo Village, Kanigoro District, Blitar, involving 35 participants. The method consisted of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Interventions included health education, free health check-ups, and acupressure therapy training. The interventions include health education, free health check-ups, and the promotion of acupressure techniques based on the standard operating procedure (SOP) for acupressure. These interventions were delivered over three meetings and involved measuring blood pressure, blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol, alongside acupressure therapy. Results showed a reduction in uric acid levels among participants with elevated levels by 1–1.2 mg/dL, The prevalence of hypertension decreased from 17 participants to 10, and blood sugar levels normalized in all participants. There was also an increase in participants’ knowledge and awareness of NCDs. Education-based interventions, routine health checks, and acupressure therapy were effective in reducing NCD risk and promoting healthy living behaviors. This model has potential for wider application as a community empowerment strategy in controlling NCDs.

Abstract

The impact on teenagers, if they experience anemia, is that it disrupts their ability to learn, reduces their physical exercise ability and body fitness, reduces individual work capacity, reduces the body's immune function, and reduces the ability to regulate body temperature. This research aimed to analyze factors related to anemia in adolescent girls. The research method used quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The population in the study were all 50 Adolescents who were checked for Hb in March and had moderate anemia. The sample was 44 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used a questionnaire to determine the length of the menstrual period, nutritional status, knowledge, and iron intake. The research used an ordinal distribution used an ordinal regression test. The research results showed that the variable length of menstruation was 0.879 with p=0.348 (> 0.05), the nutritional status variable was 0.231 with p=0.631 (>0.05), the knowledge level variable was 4.407 with p=0.021 (>0.05) and the nutritional intake variable was 11.575 with p=0.001 (<0.05). This meant that the level of knowledge and nutritional intake was related to the level of anemia. Meanwhile, the length of menstruation and nutritional status were not related to the level of anemia. For future researchers, it is expected to provide interventions related to knowledge including individual or group counseling as well as providing a healthy lunch menu program to increase iron intake in adolescents.

Abstract

Stunting is chronic malnutrition due to prolonged lack of nutrients, short or very short stature based on length/height for age. It is estimated that nearly a quarter of children in Indonesia are stunted. Stunting is an unresolved nutritional problem in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors of stunting in toddlers based on the Transcultural Nursing theory. The research was conducted in the working area of Puskesmas Panggungrejo, Margomulyo Village. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The sample size of this study was 154 respondents. The dependent variable of this study is the incidence of stunting. Independent variables consisted of technological factors, religiosity and philosophy, social support, cultural values and lifestyles, politics and legal, economic and educational factors. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman rank statistical test with a significance level of α <0.05. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between technological factors p = 0.000, religiosity and philosophy factors p = 0.010, social support factors p = 0.002, cultural values and lifestyle factors p = 0.000, political and legal factors p = 0.000, economic factors p = 0.021 with the incidence of stunting while the education factor p = 0.128 is not associated with the incidence of stunting.

Abstract

Optimal breastfeeding practices play a crucial role in enhancing the health of infants and children. However, increased anxiety among postpartum mothers can lead to higher cortisol levels. Moxibustion is a traditional therapy that has been shown to improve blood circulation, reduce discomfort, and influence the central nervous system by stimulating specific meridian points. This study aimed to examine the effect of moxibustion on cortisol levels in breastfeeding mothers. A quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest was used. Participants were divided into two groups: an intervention group that received moxibustion and a control group that received acupuncture. A total of 32 breastfeeding mothers from Ngaliyan Public Health Center in Semarang participated in the study, with 16 individuals in each group. Moxibustion was applied to specific meridian points (CV17, LI4, SP6, ST16, ST18, ST36, BL17, and BL18). Cortisol levels were measured using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method, and data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed no significant difference in cortisol levels between the two groups (p = 0.864). The average cortisol change was -0.063 in the intervention group and -0.113 in the control group. It was concluded that moxibustion had no significant effect on cortisol levels. Further studies are recommended to explore other factors that may influence cortisol levels in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

The importance of cadre roles is a key determinant in ensuring the smooth implementation of the Integrated Primary Service (ILP) Posyandu program. Cadres play essential roles and functions in Posyandu activities, one of which is carrying out the five-table system. However, in practice, the five-table system has not yet been implemented optimally. This condition may be influenced by several factors, including knowledge. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among cadres’ knowledge of integrated primary health services (Posyandu ILP) with their skill in implementing the five-table system. A cross-sectional study was the method applied. 55 cadres made up the study population, and a total sampling strategy was used to include all of them in the sample. Questionnaires were used as tools for testing knowledge and skill. The Spearman Rank statistical test produced a positive correlation value of 0.704 and a p-value of 0.000 (α < 0.05). This indicates a significant relationship between knowledge about ILP Posyandu and cadre skills in carrying out the five-table system. The correlation coefficient reflects a strong positive correlation, meaning that as the level of knowledge increases, the skill level also tends to improve. These findings suggest that regular and comprehensive training sessions should be provided to enhance cadres’ knowledge of ILP and their ability to perform the five Posyandu tables effectively.
