Abstract

The aim of this research is to make improvements in the discus throwing test. Components that are improved in the throwing process start from the discus handle, the rotating stage, the throwing stage until returning to the original movement stage. Usually the discus throwing test uses the furthest distance taken by the meter. To find out the discus throwing quality of physical education students at Riau Islamic University, of course there must be test instruments and test norms for these students. Based on the background above, it is important for this research to be carried out in order to create a standard discus throwing test instrument that complies with the latest IAAF regulations. The method in this research uses research and development methods. This research uses development with the Borg and Gall model which includes ten activities, namely: (1) research and information collecting, (2) planning, (3) develop preliminary form of product, (4) preliminary field testing, (5) main product revision, (6) main field testing, (7) operational product revision, (8) operational field testing, (9) final product revision, (10) dissemination and implementation. The targets achieved in this research were physical education athletic students at Riau Islamic University. The population in this study was 40 people and the sample using a total sampling technique was 40 people. The instrument of this research is the discus throwing test. The data analysis technique in this research is (a) validity test using content validity and construct validity. The construct validity test was carried out by analyzing data from the discus throwing test results. The data obtained from the test was tested for validity using the SPSS computer program. (b) reliability test to describe the consistency of measurement results. The results of the discus throwing test instrument developed were correlated with the total score and had a validity of 0.790 and 0.790 which was greater than the r table (0.361). Meanwhile, the reliability result is 0.701, which is greater than the r table (0.361). The results of the validity of large group trials using the SPSS application with results obtained were 0.749, including the medium category. Based on data analysis, discus throwing skills were the lowest with a score of 87.91 and discus throwing skills were the highest with a score of 164.06.

Abstract

Siswa SD Negeri 179 Kota Pekanbaru banyak yang kurang daya kosentrasinya dalam beraktivitas pada saat pembelajaran sehingga siswa tidak memperhatikan guru pada saat guru menjelaskan, selanjutnya siswa masih kurang percaya diri dalam mengekspresikan kemampuannya nya dalam belajar, serta kurangnya motivasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran khususnya pada olahraga lompat jangkit. Pelaksanaan teknik lompat jangkit ini memerlukan keterampilan yang khusus, terutama untuk anak sekolah dasar. Dimana teknik dasarnya terdiri dari lari awalan (approach), jingkat (hop), langkah (step), lompat (jump). Jadi setiap rangkaian itu memiliki cara tersendiri seperti awalan, dimaan siswa harus berlari secepat mungkin untuk bisa mendapatkan kecepatan yang bagus. Setelah awalan dilanjutkan jingkat yaitu melakukan lompatan dengan kaki yang sama, lalu dilanjutkan dengan langkah dimana melakukan pergantian kaki untuk melangkah, setelah itu tahapan melompat / melayang, dengan adanya tolakan yang kuat diharapkan lompatan siswa bisa jauh kedepan. Terkahir mendarat, tahapan ini harus menggunakan kedua kaki untuk mendarat, tetapi badan juga harus diperhatikan keseimbangannya jangan sampai nantik salah satu anggota badan jatuh kebelakang. Penggunaan psikologi olahraga menjadi tuntutan mutlak untuk mengatasi masalah-masalah psikologis siswa sekolah dasar juga bagaimana penanganan aspek psikologis ini dapat meningkatkan minat dan semangat siswa dalam mempraktekkan lompat jangkit. Psikologi Olahraga merupakan ilmu yang mempelajari perilaku manusia dalam konteks untuk meningkatkan prestasi olahraga.

Abstract

Motor competence is a crucial aspect of the development of elementary school-aged children. The Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model is considered capable of improving motor skills through a contextual and participatory approach to play. However, empirical evidence in local contexts, particularly regarding the effectiveness of TGfU on locomotor and object control skills separately, as well as gender differences, remains limited. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. A total of 54 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 190 Pekanbaru participated in TGfU-based volleyball learning for 6 weeks (12 sessions). The Test of Gross Motor Development, Second Edition (TGMD-2) assessed locomotor and object control skills. Because the data were not normally distributed (Shapiro–Wilk p < 0.05), analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results showed that TGfU was associated with improvements in overall motor competence (W = 3.5; z = –6.06; p < .001; Median = 4.0, 95% CI [3.5, 4.5], Effect Size = .99), locomotor skills (V1: W = 14; z = –5.47; p < .001; Median = 3.0, 95% CI [2.5, 3.5], Effect Size = .97), and object control skills (V2: W = 16; z = –5.80; p < .001; Median = 2.5, 95% CI [2.0, 3.0], Effect Size = .97). Female students showed greater improvement in locomotor aspects than males. Further research, employing a randomized controlled design and long-term retention testing, is recommended to strengthen the generalizability of these findings.
