Abstract

This study evaluates the costs and implementation times for flexible and rigid pavement designs for the Sampang-Ketapang road (Link 113) using the 2024 Pavement Design Manual. The flexible pavement design, using Class A aggregate with a thickness of 200 mm, costs IDR 12,804,591,492 and requires a 7-month implementation period. In contrast, the rigid pavement design, with 300 mm concrete and a flexural strength of 4.5 MPa, costs IDR 19,513,787,534 and takes 9 months to complete. While flexible pavement is more cost-efficient and quicker to implement, making it suitable for projects with budget and time constraints, rigid pavement offers greater durability and reduced maintenance over time, which may justify its higher initial cost for roads with heavy traffic. This study emphasizes the importance of selecting the appropriate pavement type based on traffic conditions, subgrade characteristics, and budget limitations. Flexible pavement is recommended for segments with moderate traffic and short-term construction needs, while rigid pavement is better suited for high-traffic areas requiring long-term durability. The research suggests a strategic combination of both pavement types to optimize cost and efficiency while ensuring sustainability. The findings provide practical guidance for stakeholders in road infrastructure projects, offering a framework to balance initial costs, construction timelines, and long-term maintenance to achieve optimal outcomes in road widening projects like the Sampang-Ketapang road expansion.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the toll rates desired by the people of Gresik Regency based on the value of Ability to Pay (ATP) and Willingness to Pay (WTP) on the Krian – Legundi – Bunder (KLB) Toll Road. Through traffic count surveys and Road Side Interviews (RSI) at toll gates and arterial roads, data on vehicle population, payment ability, and user preferences for existing toll rates were obtained. The analysis employed a Logit model to evaluate the relationship between the ATP and WTP values and their correlation with the current toll rates. The results revealed that both the WTP and ATP of the community were lower than the existing toll tariff. Specifically, the study found that the optimal toll rate for users would be Rp. 1,100/km, which is 26.96% lower than the current rate of Rp. 1,506/km. This adjustment not only aligns better with the financial capacities of the users but also presents an opportunity for revenue optimization. By lowering the toll rate, it is predicted that increased traffic volume could compensate for the reduced fee, ultimately benefiting both the toll operator and the community. In conclusion, establishing a toll rate that reflects user preferences is crucial for enhancing accessibility and ensuring sustainable revenue generation for infrastructure development.

Abstract

Construction work includes the implementation of construction work and the community organizing the construction work itself. The implementation of this construction work must comply with the provisions regarding engineering, occupational safety and health, labor protection, and local environmental regulations to ensure the realization of an orderly implementation of construction work. The construction of the Kretek 2 Bridge in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province has its own challenges, because the location of the bridge is in an area prone to earthquakes and liquefaction or ground movement. With so many workers on this very high-risk project, there is a high probability of an accident occurring. The purpose of the study was to analyze (1) the risky work that could occur in bridge construction work, (2) the work that has the highest possible risk, (3) risk control, (4) the amount of investment costs required. The method used is the HIRADC method. The results of the study were (1) Risky work that can occur was a. High level of risk, including drowning, being dragged by the river current, being hit by heavy equipment maneuvers and falling from a height. b. Moderate risk level, including being crushed by formwork, falling material, scratched hands. c. Low level of risk, including landslides, heavy equipment maneuvers, iron puncture. (2) Work that has the highest possible risk is Pile Cap Excavation Work, Work Floor Work and Pier Head Ironing Work. (3) Risk control in bridge work consists of: Using a boat when measuring in rivers, Conducting briefings before starting activities, Using PPE life vests and placing life ring buoys on boats, Installing signs and placing officers in areas that intersect with roads, Installing guardrail of the project area, installing scaffolding as a working platform and inspecting its feasibility, communicating hazards through signs, conducting refresh training for workers. (4) The investment cost required for implementing K3 on the Kretek 2 Bridge work in Bantul Regency was Rp. 6,545,998,310 or 1.795% of the contract value.

Abstract

The installation of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar, faces challenges related to cost and time inefficiencies, particularly delays in project completion. This study aims to evaluate these inefficiencies by applying the Earned Value Method (EVM) to assess project performance and identify areas for improvement. Utilizing EVM metrics, the research identifies that the Schedule Performance Index (SPI) is below 1, indicating a delay in the project timeline, with the actual duration extending to 556 calendar days compared to the planned 546 days. This delay underscores the need for a more robust project management approach. The study employs the Critical Path Method (CPM) in conjunction with Microsoft Project to improve scheduling accuracy, alongside recommendations for project acceleration using the Crashing Program method. The findings highlight that early implementation of EVM can help mitigate discrepancies in cost and time, enabling better control and monitoring throughout the project lifecycle. The study concludes that integrating advanced scheduling techniques and real-time performance metrics is essential to achieving efficiency and minimizing delays in similar infrastructure projects.

Abstract

This study analyzes the performance of construction projects using the Earned Value Method (EVM) on the Infrastructure and Facilities Improvement Project at Yohanis Kapiyau Airbase in Timika. Utilizing key performance indicators such as Cost Variance (CV), Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Variance (SV), and Schedule Performance Index (SPI), the research evaluates cost and time deviations to provide a comprehensive understanding of project performance. EVM offers precise insights into the project's current status, including estimates for total costs and completion timelines, which are critical for effective decision-making and ensuring adherence to project plans. The findings demonstrate that EVM is a reliable tool for accurately monitoring and managing construction projects, enabling stakeholders to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective measures in a timely manner. By providing an in-depth evaluation of cost efficiency and schedule performance, the study contributes to the broader application of EVM in enhancing construction project management. This research is expected to benefit academics by advancing theoretical knowledge, assist contractors in optimizing project execution, and inform public stakeholders on best practices for infrastructure development, ultimately contributing to more effective and efficient management of construction projects in Indonesia.
