Abstract

Poor management of breast care can result in premature cessation of breastfeeding. The main reason for early cessation of breastfeeding is due to pain caused by breast milk dams. One indicator of a child's health is exclusive breastfeeding. In Indonesia, exclusive breastfeeding coverage increased from 69.62% in 2020 to 71.58% in 2021 and 72.04% in 2022. This community service aims to enhance community awareness regarding the efficacy of warm breast compresses as an alternative therapeutic approach for managing breast engorgement in postpartum mothers. This study utilized a quasi-experimental design with pre- and post-test assessments. The target population for this research consisted of postpartum mothers on the third postpartum day residing within the service area of the Garung Community Health Center, Wonosobo Regency in August-September 2024 who experienced breast milk dams with a total of 6 respondents using probability sampling techniques with simple random sampling. Researchers divided respondents into 2 groups. The Wilcoxon Test was employed for data analysis. The statistical test results using the Wilcoxon Test, postpartum mothers with warm compresses with p value= 0.000, can be concluded p < 0.05. This indicates a statistically significant effect of warm compresses in alleviating breast pain among postpartum mother.

Abstract

The 3-month injectable contraceptive is the most widely used method in the working area of Puskesmas Garung, accounting for 50% of the total active contraceptive coverage, which stands at 78.90%. However, this method has several drawbacks, such as an effectiveness rate of only 98% and a failure risk of 60 per 1,000 users according to WHO, which is higher compared to IUDs, implants, MOW, and MOP. The high usage of the 3-month injectable contraceptive may lead to suboptimal birth control, potentially increasing maternal mortality rates (MMR). This study aims to identify predisposing and reinforcing factors influencing the selection of the 3-month injectable contraceptive. Using a descriptive qualitative method with consecutive sampling involving 9 respondents, data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed univariately. The findings indicate that age, education, and knowledge (predisposing factors) are the most influential factors in choosing this contraceptive method. Therefore, healthcare providers are encouraged to offer in-depth counseling on the effectiveness and drawbacks of the 3-month injectable contraceptive to encourage mothers to switch to long-acting contraceptive methods (LACMs).

Abstract

Hypertension has become one of the non-communicable diseases with the most affected case growth rate in the contemporary era, especially in rural areas. Community involvement is very important in the success of hypertension prevention programs. The elderly are susceptible to hypertension because body functions decline with age. Other factors that play a role are unhealthy lifestyles, such as the tendency to consume junk food, smoke, drink alcohol, and rarely exercise. Junk food is usually high in calories, fat, salt (sodium), and low in fiber, which can trigger high blood pressure. Cigarettes are also dangerous because the nicotine content can stimulate the release of adrenaline, which can trigger adrenaline secretion. Analysis of community involvement to see the extent to which the community of Perbarakan Village, Pagar Merbau District, participates in the hypertension prevention program. Activities through counseling, blood pressure checks, and training of posyandu cadres. The method used is participatory and directly involves residents, especially the elderly and health cadres. Activities are carried out through health counseling, blood pressure checks, and training of posyandu cadres. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires to determine community understanding and participation. The result is that the community already understands hypertension well enough, but active involvement still needs to be improved with a pre-test score of 16.20, while after counseling it increased to 18.86. Therefore, a stronger communication and empowerment strategy is needed so that the community wants to live a healthy life sustainably.

Abstract

Purpose: Identify the effectiveness between Yoga and birth ball in decreasing labor pain intensity. Methods: This study used a systematic review design with the PRISMA-SR checklist. This systematic review referred to three steps, namely, (1) search strategy, (2) selection criteria, and (3) data extraction and quality assessment. The article search used 2 databases: ScienceDirect and Pubmed and ResearchRabbit. Results: Of 14 articles, 7 discuss Yoga's effectiveness in diminishing labor pain, and another 7 discuss birthing balls' efficacy in alleviating labor pain. Yoga and birth balls effectively reduce childbirth pain intensity. Conclusion: Besides, a combination of Yoga and birth ball or a combination of birth balls and counterpressure or free position when entering childbirth reduces labor pain. Yoga could also be combined with back massage, aromatherapy, or hypnosis. Future studies are expected to analyze the level of effectiveness between birthing balls and Yoga in reducing labor pain intensity in both developing and developed countries.
