Abstract

This study discusses the influence of educational internships on the development of student competencies in the context of higher education. Educational internships are a practical form of learning outside the classroom that provides students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in the real world. The aim of this research is to understand the extent to which educational internships contribute to the development of student competencies, including practical skills, analytical abilities, industry understanding, the formation of professional networks, and the cultivation of positive attitudes and work ethics. The results of this study show that educational internships have a significant and positive impact on the development of student competencies. Students who undergo internships experience improvements in practical skills, including interpersonal communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities. They also develop strong analytical skills and gain a deeper understanding of industry dynamics relevant to their field of study. Furthermore, educational internships enable students to build professional networks that can be valuable in their future job searches. Ultimately, internships also play a role in shaping positive attitudes and work ethics. In conclusion, this research underscores the importance of educational internships in helping students prepare for success in the workforce. Institutions of higher education need to recognize their pivotal role in fostering student competency development and collaborate with the business world to provide more relevant and beneficial internship opportunities. Thus, educational internships can be a valuable investment in enhancing students' skills and qualifications.

Abstract

Mobile game-based learning presents a potential avenue for vocabulary acquisition in English language learning, yet research on students’ perceptions of specific platforms is limited. This study focuses on investigating Grade 9 students’ perceptions of using Alef Education, an AI-based digital platform, for English vocabulary learning in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The purpose is to explore how gamification and multimodal approaches affect learning motivation and vocabulary retention. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological perspective, data were collected through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with ten students aged 14–15. Findings reveal that gamified features significantly enhance motivation, and the multimodal approach combining text, audio, and visuals improves vocabulary retention and application. However, technical issues and limited teacher interaction hinder effectiveness. This study highlights the importance of addressing both motivational and practical barriers in digital platforms. These insights inform strategies to optimize game-based learning for vocabulary acquisition in EFL contexts.

Abstract

Sistem Informasi Manajemen (SIM) memainkan peran krusial bagi organisasi di era digital untuk menjaga daya saing dan efisiensi. Namun, implementasinya menghadirkan tantangan kompleks dan multidimensi. Penelitian ini mengkaji berbagai tantangan dalam implementasi SIM di era digital menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipan. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi beberapa tantangan utama, termasuk kebutuhan bisnis yang beragam, pemahaman teknologi informasi dan aspek bisnis, manajemen biaya, serta keamanan informasi. Tantangan lain mencakup kecepatan perubahan teknologi, integrasi sistem, dan perubahan perilaku pengguna. Untuk mengatasinya, diperlukan strategi komprehensif yang melibatkan komitmen manajemen, perencanaan menyeluruh, komunikasi efektif, pelatihan pengguna, dan manajemen perubahan yang tepat. Dengan pendekatan strategis, organisasi dapat memanfaatkan SIM secara optimal untuk meningkatkan kinerja dan daya saing di lingkungan bisnis digital yang dinamis.
