Abstract

Self-efficacy can speed up and improve quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but it will be difficult to achieve if using a bag-valve-mask (BVM) by a single rescue. This study aimed to compare the differences of self-efficacy when performing CPR in the lateral and over-the-head (OTH) positions using a BVM device in a single rescue. A quasi-experimental with a post-test-only group design approach. This study involved 100 respondents divided into two groups, namely 50 respondents in the lateral position and 50 in the OTH position. Respondents' self-efficacy was assessed using the resuscitation self-efficacy scale (RSES). The statistical test used was Mann-Whitney. The results of this study showed that the OTH group had a higher level of self-efficacy, 46 (92%), than the lateral group, 40 (80%). In addition, the results of the Mann-Whitney statistical test also obtained p-value=0.000 (α=0.05) and mean rank value (OTH=63.30, lateral=37.70), indicating that there was a difference in self-efficacy between the OTH and lateral positions, with the OTH group having higher self-efficacy compared to the lateral group. Therefore, if CPR is performed by a single rescue with a BVM device, it can be performed with the OTH position.

Abstract

Picky eating is a selective eating behavior that has become a global concern due to its association with malnutrition and stunting, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. This study aims to identify the association between picky eating and stunting in preschool children in Lau District, Maros Regency. The study used a retrospective cohort design with a total sampling of 166 children aged 3-5 years. Eating behavior was measured using the Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CEBQ) and nutritional status was assessed based on WHO standards using a microtoise. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test and odds ratio (OR) with 95% CI. Children with picky eating have a 43-fold higher risk of stunting (OR = 43; 95% CI). A total of 65.06% of children showed picky eating behavior, and 47.59% experienced stunting. Other influencing factors are low birth weight and parental income below the minimum wage. Picky eating is significantly associated with the incidence of stunting in preschool children. These results focus on the importance of educating parents about healthy eating patterns and the need for community-based interventions to reduce stunting rates.

Abstract

Cognitive impairment is one of the side effects that often occurs in stroke patients which will reduce the patient's ability to fulfill the daily needs of Activity Daily Living (ADL) that can cause a decrease in the quality of life so that it causes healing to be long, the length of hospitalization extends, becomes an economic and social burden on the families. The physical and cognitive disabilities experienced also cause various nursing problems. It is very important for nurses to recognize the occurrence of cognitive impairment in post-stroke patients starting from assessment and if there is cognitive impairment, so that nurses can intervene with exercise therapy and communication in cognitive impairment of stroke patients. The method used is training with evaluation in the form of pre and post tests. The material provided is an assessment of cognitive impairment and a communication training program for ADL fulfillment in post-stroke patients with cognitive impairment consisting of 2 two sessions and followed by a question and answer discussion session and role play using digital media. The results showed an increase in knowledge and skills of nurses in assessing cognitive impairment and training and communication of ADL fulfillment in post-stroke patients with cognitive impairment.

Abstract

The lack of knowledge and attitudes of children towards health protocols (washing hands, wearing mask, physical distancing) as an effort to prevent COVID-19 is the main factor that causes the incidence of COVID-19 in children to continue and is increasing. So, there is a need for education on health protocols (washing hands, wearing mask, physical distancing) so that children can avoid COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health protocol education on knowledge and attitudes to prevent COVID-19 transmission in children. This study used a pre-experimental study with a one group pre test-post test design approach. The population in the study was 400 children and the research sample was 78 children aged 10-12 years, which were taken using stratified random sampling technique. The result of the study were analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test with a significance level of ?=0,05, the value of p=0,000 was obtained, this shows that there is an effect of health protocol education on knowledge and atitudes to prevent COVID-19 transmission in children aged 10-12 years at Frater Bakti Luhur Elementary School. Providing education has a great impact on increasing knowledge and attitudes.
