Abstract

Community service activities at the Ebenhaezer Bilamun Congregation aim to increase awareness and knowledge about violence, provide initial knowledge for prevention, and create a safe environment for teenagers and young people. Using seminars, discussions, and awareness campaigns through social media, brochures and posters, 30 young people and teenagers aged 12-24 years, along with the congregation council with a participatory approach, were involved in this activity. They were given the opportunity to learn, understand and be aware of violence and how to prevent it. The results, through pre-tests and post-tests, showed that participants experienced changes in understanding and increased knowledge about violence. This activity increased their awareness of the dangers of violence, thus giving birth to a determination to prevent acts of violence. Thus, this activity not only helps young people and teenagers in broadening their horizons about violence, but also provides them with good provisions to protect themselves from acts of violence that they can do or receive from others. Likewise, the church can start planning programs to prevent violence and protect victims of violence. Overall, this coaching activity is an important step in the effort to create a safe and supportive community, improve the welfare and safety of congregation members, and create a stronger and more independent young generation in seeking to live peacefully and avoid acts of violence.

Abstract

Poverty in East Nusa Tenggara is a serious problem that has been as truggle for the government, the church, and the people of NTT for years. Various ways have been taken to overcome this problem, for example the structure of society that must be changed, reducing excessive spending budgets, access roads to remote areas that must be repaired. Poverty in NTT can be overcome by building a market network. However, specifically in this paper, we will look at the potential of NTT people to be empowered to become superior human beings as Nietzsche thought. Indeed, Nietzsche’s thinking is often taken to the extreme because his critique of Christianity is hard to forgive. However, we see that behind his controversial thinking, there are positive values that we can gain and try to put into practice in the context of poverty in NTT. Therefore, it is very important for us to move away from our views that reject radically his thoughts while trying to learn critically about what is the essence of Nietzsche’s thinking and the extent to which it is relevant to the context of poverty in NTT.

Abstract

Perkembangan dunia yang sangat pesat membawa dampak yang positif maupun negatif. Perkembangan dan dampak ini mempengaruhi setiap orang termasuk termasuk anak-anak. Ada dampak negatif yang bisa mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan karakter seorang anak. Untuk itu, diperlukan peran semua pihak untuk mengawasi dan mendidik anak-anak di tengah perkembangan dunia ini, termasuk gereja. Tugas mendidik anak dengan tujuan pertumbuhan iman bisa diwujudkan melalui kegiatan belajar di sekolah minggu. Sayangnya, tidak semua guru sekolah minggu dan pengajar mempunyai pengetahuan dan keahlian yang cukup untuk melaksanakan proses belajar yang efisien. Hal ini juga yang menjadi realita dari jemaat Imanuel Ekateta, Klasis Fatuleu Timur. Untuk itu melalui program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini akan diadakan Pelatihan bagi guru sekolah minggu dan pengajar jemaat Imanuel Ekateta. Pelatihan dimaksud berkaitan dengan dua hal yaitu pemahaman dan pengetahuan tentang metode dan Teknik mengajar yang efisien serta pengembangan media pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan konteks dan kebutuhan anak-anak. Harapannya, program Pengabdian ini akan membantu guru sekolah minggu dan para pengajar jemaat Imanuel Ekateta untuk meningkatkan kualitas Pendidikan di gereja.

Abstract

There are at least three major realities that should be highlighted when entering the 21st century, including digitalization that is growing rapidly, humanization that is starting to be intensified, and the intensity of religion fortifying its people in warding off the dangers of technological progress and humanization that has the potential to damage the lives of religious people. Digitalization creates an opium for humans while humanization gives birth to the understanding that humans can live without God. For this, religion must be able to be a filter for the spread of digitalization and humanization and contribute to real contributions. In its development, there are obstacles that the church encountered when it began to try to instill critical values on these two phenomena. The church was later accused of being an institution that restrained its congregation. Consider Nietzsche's thesis that he fought persistently to convince religious people that man occupies a position above religion and all forms of understanding that make human space limited. Man must become a complete man, transcending all existing orders. The term Nietzsche used was Ubermensch. This becomes a serious problem if not addressed wisely. Not after Nietzsche criticized the church, Yuval Harari appeared and confirmed the humanist position but with a note that there must be artificial intelligence that helps humans. Technology is glorified. This is where both Nietzsche and Harari come to a contrasting understanding. After all of the above is mentioned, then using the literature method, this article offers a solution that the church should be present to navigate the direction of technology and humanism. Faced with the rapid development of technology, the church stresses the need for responsible and ethical use of technology.
