Abstract

Penelitian ini melakukan evaluasi beberapa rumah tinggal dan mengusulkan konsep workspace-residential hybrid dengan pendekatan arsitektur biofilik, yang diharapkan mampu memenuhi kebutuhan hybrid workspace pada masa pasca pandemi.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The phenomenon of Work from Home is the most visible change in human behavior and needs since the post-Covid-19 pandemic. Abstract

Kelompok sadar wisata (Pokdarwis) kampung sejarah Peneleh dibentuk pada tahun 2023 dan memiliki kegiatan utama yakni walking tour. Namun, dalam penerapannya, Pokdarwis belum memiliki media informasi berupa pamflet untuk peserta walking tour. Ditambah lagi, informasi sejarah arsitektur untuk peserta walking tour dirasa masih sangat kurang. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu Pokdarwis Peneleh Heritage dalam meningkatkan kualitas kegiatan walking tour kampung sejarah Peneleh melalui tiga metode kegiatan. Pertama, melakukan pemetaan rute dan mengkaji arsitektur bangunan lama sepanjang rute. Kedua, mengadakan kuliah tamu sebagai sharing session. Ketiga, merancang pamflet walking tour.

Abstract

Title: Small Steps-Big Impact: Walking Tour as Key to Sustainable Tourism in Kampung Peneleh Surabaya A way to preserve historical areas through tourism is by organizing walking tours. Recently, there has been a surge in walking tours offering experiences in spatial and architectural history for both domestic and international tourists. One example is the locally organized walking tours. However, studies focusing on tourist experiences during these walking tours, directly involving tourists as participants, are still limited. Identifying observation points along the walking tour route is crucial to determine which sites elicit positive or negative responses from participants. This article aims to explore tourists' spatial and architectural experiences and assess the contribution of walking tours to sustainable tourism. The research focuses on a case study in the historical village of Peneleh, Surabaya, where walking tours are conducted by a tourism awareness group (pokdarwis). The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing observation and photo surveys, with six tourists serving as participants who joined other tourists on a walking tour package. The results show 154 photos representing four participant responses: liked photos (50.6%), disliked (10.4%), helpful during the tour (19.5%), and areas needing improvement (19.5%). Participants captured liked objects while also noting areas that require improvement. Additionally, walking tours offer broader access to various tourist sites that are not always open to the public. Those initiated by Pokdarwis can be sustainable tourism activities, continually innovating tour themes and offering new experiences for tourists.

Abstract

Architecture in Indonesia began to experience a vibrant growth in the years following independence and the post-independence war, which became the emergence of jengki architecture. Jengki is an architectural style that characterized by eccentric shapes; gavel walls, gables, roosters, sloping columns, and a concrete creation with unusual shapes. Emerging in the late 1950s, jengki style has expanded all over Indonesia, including Surabaya. Jengki style buildings in Surabaya are not only residential, but also public buildings that are rarely known. Public buildings are places for the communities to do activities and interact socially, forming a collective memory that is part of urban life. The existence of jengki style public buildings is slowly fading and disappearing from the city's face and replaced by modern buildings. This article discusses the transformation of three jengki style public buildings in Surabaya, which is Khadijah School Hall, Wonokromo Market, and Gelora Pancasila. All three of them underwent different transformation and treatment. Using a qualitative study with a historical paradigm, it employed archival tracking tactics and building documentation in three timelines. Furthermore, the analysis shows that economic factors and the need for modernization are the reasons for the jengki disappearance. Different treatment of buildings also has an impact on the survival of jengki buildings. For this reason, it requires particular approaches to maintain the jengki style as well as the preservation process of Gelora Pancasila conducted by the Surabaya City Government.
