Abstract

The school principal is not only tasked with managing administration, but also providing direction to educators and education staff to develop the school and improve the quality of teaching. Therefore, in this research, it is important to review the principal's leadership style on teacher performance. The method in this study uses a literature review. The findings in this research are that the school principal's leadership style or other language is a distinctive way or characteristic of leading a school. Each school principal is of course different in implementing his leadership style, but they both want to achieve the school's goals and vision. The principal's leadership style relates to the way or characteristics of a leader in managing, guiding and directing teachers to achieve educational goals. Leadership styles such as self-criticism, democracy, instructive, consultative, delegative, participative, transformational, situational and transactional, of course each leadership style has its strengths and weaknesses, so it needs to be appropriate to the conditions and situation. The principal's leadership style has an influence on teacher performance and the success or failure achieved.

Abstract

Kinerja seorang guru yang optimal tidak terlepas dari sikap positif yang diemban. Sikap-sikap tersebut meliputi disiplin, kemauan untuk bekerja secara tekun, komitmen terhadap standar kualitas pekerjaan, akuntabilitas, serta dedikasi yang tak tergoyahkan. Mengingat krusialnya peran kinerja guru dalam meningkatkan keberhasilan pendidikan, sangatlah penting untuk senantiasa menjaga dan mengupayakan agar guru memiliki kinerja yang tinggi. Sangatlah penting untuk segera mencari tahu faktor-faktor penentu peningkatan kinerja guru, agar permasalahan dalam peningkatan mutu pendidikan dapat teratasi. Di antaranya adalah gaya kepemimpinan yang demokratis dan kepuasan kerja, keduanya dipercaya akan berdampak baik pada kinerja guru dan pada akhirnya kualitas pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan kajian literatur yang bersumber dari sejumlah artikel penelitian yang terbit pada periode 2015-2021. Artikel-artikel yang diulas membahas dampak gaya kepemimpinan demokratis terhadap kinerja, kepuasan kerja, dan kualitas pembelajaran guru di sekolah. Studi literatur menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan demokratis kepala sekolah secara positif memengaruhi ketiga aspek tersebut. Gaya ini efektif mengelola sekolah, memotivasi guru, menciptakan lingkungan kolaboratif, serta melibatkan guru dalam keputusan dan mendorong inovasi. Studi juga menemukan hubungan positif antara kepemimpinan demokratis dengan kepuasan kerja guru karena adanya partisipasi aktif. Akan tetapi, terdapat pula penelitian yang menambahkan motivasi guru sebagai penentu kinerja. Secara kesimpulan, kepemimpinan demokratis kepala sekolah dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dengan membangun lingkungan yang mendukung dan kolaboratif. Sehingga, menegaskan peran kepala sekolah sebagai pengarah, motivator, dan pengembang guru demi mutu pendidikan yang lebih baik.
