Abstract

According to data from BPS (2023), the capture fisheries production in Bengkulu City reached 41,919 tons in 2022. Despite its significant potential, fishermen’s income levels are highly dependent on unpredictable, uneven, and difficult-to-forecast catch results, often leading to their classification as "the poorest of the poor." This study aims to examine the income and welfare of small-scale fishing households in Bengkulu City, a region with substantial capture fisheries potential. Although the city recorded a production volume of 41,919 tons in 2022, many fishermen in this area continue to face challenges related to low welfare levels. Using welfare indicators from the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN), this study analyzes the income and welfare levels of fishing households and explores the relationship between them. Primary data were collected through direct interviews and questionnaires, with small-scale fishermen selected using accidental sampling. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test to determine the correlation between income and welfare. The findings indicate that the average monthly income of small-scale fishing households is IDR 2,130,553. The welfare levels of these households are categorized into three groups: Sejahtera II (26%), Sejahtera III (49%), and Sejahtera III Plus (25%). The Chi-square test results show a significance value of 0.010, indicating a significant relationship between income and fishermen’s household welfare. These findings suggest that income is the primary factor influencing the welfare of small-scale fishermen. Increasing income levels can serve as a strategic approach to improving the quality of life for fishermen and their families

Abstract

Kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pemupukan Kopi Robusta di Kabupaten Kepahiang dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan mitra, yaitu rendahnya produktivitas kebun kopi akibat teknik pemupukan yang belum optimal, penggunaan pupuk yang tidak sesuai dosis, pencampuran pupuk yang keliru, serta minimnya pengetahuan petani tentang prinsip pemupukan berimbang dan pembuatan kompos. Kondisi ini memengaruhi kualitas biji kopi dan keberlanjutan lahan, terutama karena sebagian besar petani masih mengandalkan cara-cara tradisional dalam pengelolaan tanah dan tanaman. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2025 di Desa Kelilik, Kabupaten Kepahiang, dan diikuti oleh 35 peserta yang terdiri dari petani kopi anggota kelompok tani setempat. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani secara signifikan, di mana pemahaman yang semula hanya 32% meningkat menjadi 85% setelah kegiatan, khususnya dalam aspek penerapan prinsip pemupukan 4T, perbedaan pupuk organik dan anorganik, teknik pemberian pupuk, serta pembuatan kompos. Temuan ini mengonfirmasi bahwa edukasi yang disertai praktik lapangan merupakan pendekatan yang efektif untuk membentuk kesadaran dan perubahan perilaku petani menuju pengelolaan usahatani kopi yang lebih berkelanjutan. Untuk memperkuat dampak kegiatan, diperlukan dukungan kebijakan daerah melalui replikasi program ke sentra kopi lainnya, integrasi hasil pelatihan ke dalam program penyuluhan pemerintah, serta kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi dan lembaga penelitian dalam pengembangan inovasi teknologi budidaya. Selain itu, penguatan kelompok tani dalam pengelolaan kompos secara kolektif dapat menurunkan biaya produksi dan menjaga kesehatan tanah, sehingga produktivitas dan mutu kopi Robusta Bengkulu dapat terus ditingkatkan.

Abstract

Food is a fundamental necessity that significantly influences the quality of human resources and regional stability. Bengkulu Province has experienced fluctuating food security indices, ranking 26th nationally in 2021. This study aims to analyze the levels of household expenditure and food security in North Bengkulu Regency. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data from the 2020 National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS), comprising a sample of 620 households. Food security analysis utilizes the Jonsson and Toole (1991) cross-classification method, combining the Food Expenditure Share (PPP) and Dietary Diversity indicators. The results indicate that the majority of households (55%) fall into the high to very high expenditure categories. Regarding food security status, 55% of households are classified as "Food Secure," 42% as "Food Vulnerable," 2% as "Food Less," and 1% as "Food Insecure." The high proportion of food-vulnerable households (42%) suggests that while dietary diversity is achieved, the proportion of expenditure dedicated to food remains dominant, a condition likely exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic during the data period.
