Abstract

Environmental degradation is a decrease in environmental quality due to development activities which are characterized by the non-functioning of environmental components or it can also be said that environmental degradation is a natural environmental condition that leads to damage to biodiversity and endangers environmental health. Environmental degradation is caused by two main factors, namely nature and humans. Land degradation can be in the form of damage to marine ecosystems, critical land, and forest damage. Land degradation is closely related to land, population density, and poverty. Poverty is a condition of living conditions that are lacking in meeting basic human needs. Community poverty is considered to be one of the factors that causes environmental damage. This paper aims to see whether there is a relationship between environmental degradation and poverty. The method used in the preparation of this paper is a literature study by reviewing several articles that have been published by previous researchers and take the essence of the research. From the literature study, it is concluded that there is a relationship between environmental degradation and poverty, but the cause of environmental degradation is not solely caused by poverty, but is mostly caused by human activities in utilizing the environment.

The study conducted in Mukomuko Province involves 67 dry fish producers as respondents. This study used descriptive quantitative method and multiple linear regression analysis with ordinary least square (OLS) method. The research results show that the value of R2 is 0,8773. The results of the F-test show that the raw materials, labor, and capital are affected to the production of dried fish simultaneously. The T-test result indicated that the production of dried fish is subject to independent variables intermediates.

Abstract

Aquaculture is one of the most profitable businesses for the community economically. South  Bengkulu Regency has great potential in meeting the demand for tilapia in themarket. However, in 2018 there was a reduction in water discharge, damage to irrigation channels that began to rot or age. Based on the existing problems, the motivation of farmers who cultivate tilapia business is  reduced. The purpose of the study: 1. to analyze the motivation of farmers to maintain tilapia farming, 2. What factors influence the  motivation of  farmers to  maintain tilapia farming in South Bengkulu Regency. This study uses two types of data analysis, namely the first Likert analysis and SEM analysis. The results of this study indicate that: 1. The motivation of Tilapia fish farmers can be said to be very high motivation in maintaining their farming. 2. There are two influencing factors, namely factors that directly affect the availability of  production facilities (X1), Government support (X2),  Environmental Inputs  (X3),  Family  Head Resource Inputs (X4), Management (X5 ).) and Output (X6), while the factors that do not directly affect the Availability of Production Means (X1) affect Government Support (X2) in shaping Farmer's Motivation (Y) and the Input of Family Head Resources (X4) affects Output ( X6) in shaping the motivation of farmers (Y).

Abstract

Bengkulu is said to be the center of the world's climate because of the influence of water conditions and the topography of the area where the rain cloud formation starts. The waters in Bengkulu Province become a meeting place for four ocean currents which eventually become an area where the evaporation process of forming rain clouds becomes the rainy or dry season and affects the world climate. Method to analyze descriptively, shows oldeman Classification and satellite rainfall estimation data is added. In relation to the Analysis of Potential Food Availability for the Coastal Areas of Bengkulu Province uses a quantifiable descriptive analysis method based. The results show that most are included in the Oldeman A1 climate zone, which means it is suitable for continuous rice but less production due to generally low radiation intensity throughout the year. In an effort to reduce or eliminate the impact of climate change on food crop production, it is necessary to suggest crop diversification, crop rotation, and the application of production enhancement technologies. Strategies in building food availability as a result of climate change are: First, develop food supplies originating from regional production and food reserves on a provincial scale. Second, Empowering small-scale food businesses which are the dominant characteristics of the agricultural economy, especially lowland rice and horticultural crops. Third, Increase technology dissemination and increase the capacity of farmers in adopting appropriate technology to increase crop productivity and business efficiency. Four, Promote the reduction of food loss through the use of food handling, processing and distribution technologies.

Abstract

The people of Pinang Belapis face with the problem of declining soil quality and difficult to purchase anorganic fertilizer because of high prices and uncertain availability. The purposes of this community service are (1) to train the composting of agricultural waste materials to substitute inorganic fertilizer needs with compost and improve the quality of agricultural land by utilizing the results of composting; (2) to apply the compost to sample plots of land; (3) giving extension about the importance of organic/compost for soil and plants. Composting training is given to the boards of farmer groups. Besides composting, counseling about importance of organic fertilizer and compost in improving and maintaining soil fertility and its benefit to plants is also performed. Compost material consisting of a mixture of agricultural wastes and shrubs around the site composting is collected, chopped, and stacked layer by layer, each layer height of 20 cm. Microbes Add-Compost "Promi" is dissolved in water, and sprinkle on each layer and stacks of compacted organic material. Coating and watering is done until the compost runs out in order. Heaps of organic matter plastikagar closed with the humidity up. Compost is observed every week to measure the increase in temperature and decrease in the volume of compost. After 3 weeks, the compost is ready for harvest, as indicated by the shrinking volume of compost to about 50%, the color changes to dark brown, crumbly brittle materials, the smell is not overpowering. Then the compost is applied to the example land plot for demonstration. Keywords: organic material, compost, soil quality, agricultural waste, agricultural land
