Abstract

This research focuses on the management of Islamic boarding schools as traditional Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. Islamic boarding schools, which have a long history dating back to the 13th century, play an important role in education and developing national character. This study identifies the unique characteristics of Islamic boarding schools, such as the central role of the kyai, the independence of the students, and the integration between religious education and social life. Against the background of the challenges of modernization and globalization, this research emphasizes the importance of innovation and management transformation in Islamic boarding schools to maintain their relevance and improve the quality of education. This research describes various aspects of Islamic boarding school management, including planning, organizing and leadership. In planning, Islamic boarding schools face the challenge of setting long-term goals that are realistic and measurable, while in organizing, the role of Kyai and Islamic boarding school administrators is key in carrying out managerial functions. Leadership in Islamic boarding schools, especially the role of kyai, is very crucial in influencing and directing students and the Islamic boarding school community. The research results show that the effectiveness of Islamic boarding school management is very dependent on the ability of the kyai and administrators to adapt to changing times without losing the original identity of the Islamic boarding school. This research suggests the need to develop more systematic and data-based management practices to support sustainability and improve the quality of education in Islamic boarding schools. Apart from that, strengthening collaboration between Islamic boarding schools and various stakeholders has also been identified as an important factor in supporting the transformation of Islamic boarding school management in the modern era.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the visionary role of the principal at Ar-Rochmah Islamic Middle School and the strategies implemented in improving the quality of education. Specifically, this research has two main focuses: (1) revealing the role of the principal's visionary leadership in the educational context at Ar-Rochmah Islamic Middle School, and (2) evaluating the strategies used by the principal to improve the quality of education. This research applies a case study approach in qualitative methods. Data was obtained through in-depth interactions through interviews, participation in observations, and careful document analysis. Research findings indicate that school principals play a significant role in formulating and conveying a holistic educational vision, integrating Islamic values ​​in the curriculum, and creating a supportive learning atmosphere. The strategies implemented include developing a character-based curriculum, increasing teacher capacity through training programs and workshops, and regular supervision of the teaching and learning process. Apart from that, the school principal builds harmonious relationships between teachers and students and encourages regular religious activities. This research provides insight into the importance of visionary leadership in the context of Islamic education and offers practical recommendations for school principals and other educational administrators in efforts to improve the quality of education. Thus, it is hoped that the findings from this research can enrich the theoretical foundation and increase practical implementation in the field of leadership in Islamic-based schools.

Abstract

The integration of axiology, the philosophical study of values, within the framework of Islamic educational management is a critical exploration that seeks to align educational practices with the ethical principles inherent in Islamic philosophy. This paper delves into the significance of axiology in shaping the values, ethics, and moral foundation of educational management within an Islamic context. It explores the interplay between philosophical principles and the practical aspects of managing educational institutions in accordance with Islamic teachings. The study begins by elucidating the fundamental axiological tenets in Islamic philosophy, highlighting the centrality of values such as justice, compassion, integrity, and ethical conduct. It then examines how these values can be effectively incorporated into the managerial aspects of educational institutions, including curriculum development, leadership styles, and decision-making processes.Furthermore, the paper explores the challenges and opportunities that arise when applying axiological considerations to educational management within an Islamic framework. It investigates the potential conflicts with modern educational paradigms and the necessity of reconciling traditional Islamic values with contemporary pedagogical approaches. In conclusion, this research contributes to the ongoing discourse on the philosophy of Islamic educational management by emphasizing the importance of axiology in shaping an ethical and value-driven educational system. By synthesizing philosophical principles with practical management strategies, educators and administrators can foster an environment that not only imparts knowledge but also instills the core values integral to Islamic teachings. This approach aims to cultivate morally upright individuals who contribute positively to society while upholding the principles of Islamic philosophy in the realm of education.
