Abstract

Apis cerana honey bees have visitation activities on various vegetation. The presence of bee visits has the potential for pollination or pollination which can increase the chances of fertilization for successful generative reproduction. This pollination can support increased fruit and seed production which can indirectly help preserve and increase the productivity of vegetation on agricultural and non-agricultural land such as in forests. The Ir. H. Djuanda Grand Forest Park is a conservation forest area that is widely cultivated by A. cerana honey bees by the community. So it is necessary to know the role of A. cerana in carrying out pollination success in the Ir. H. Djuanda Grand Forest Park. The purpose of this study was to determine the visitation time of A. cerana and pollination efficiency of A. cerana in Ir. H. Djuanda Botanical Forest Park. The method used was an observation study by calculating the pollination efficiency of bees, butterflies and controls on bee forage plants Calliandra calothrysus (red calliandra). Observation of pollination efficiency was carried out for 60 days by observing the formation of fruit sets or fruit ovules from 20 red calliandra flowers. The results showed that A. cerana actively visited calliandra at 06.00 - 10.00 am, then there was a significant decrease at 11.00 - 21.00 pm with an average visit of 33.33 ± 32.18 individuals per day. Apis cerana gave 75% pollination success (88 fruit set of calliandra with an average of 4.40±3.39a fruit set), significantly different from the control (50%, 37 fruit set of calliandra with an average of 1.85±2.56b fruit set) but not significantly different from the butterfly (65%, 65 fruit set of calliandra with an average of 3.25±3.01ab fruit set). So it can be concluded that A. cerana bees have a role in increasing the success of pollination of bee forage plants in the Ir. H. Djuanda Grand Forest Park.

Abstract

Honey bees (Apis spp.) play a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance through pollination, which directly impacts the sustainability of biodiversity and human food security. Studies on the antagonistic interactions between Apis cerana and Vespa sp. are still relatively limited in Indonesia, particularly in conservation areas such as Tahura Djuanda. This study aims to observe the disruptive factors of Vespa sp. wasps, a natural enemy of the Apis cerana honey bee in Tahura Djuanda. The methods used were direct field observation and recording of Vespa sp. activity on bee colonies. The seven-day study showed that disruption by Vespa sp. wasps on the foraging activity of Apis cerana bees occurred with high frequency. The average number of Vespa sp. presence per day in insect tubes installed in calliandra flowers reached 23,28 individuals, significantly higher than the control of 3,43 individuals per day. This disturbance caused a significant decrease in bee foraging activity, increased defensive behavior, and the potential for colonies to abandon the nest (absconding). This study confirms that Vespa sp. is a natural enemy that can reduce the activity and productivity of Apis cerana colonies, and that control strategies are needed to minimize its impact.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah dua konsep yang saling terkait dan saling melengkapi. Keduanya bertujuan untuk memperkuat peran dan kapasitas masyarakat dalam mengatasi masalah, memajukan kehidupan masyarakat, berkontribusi pada pembangunan sosial, ekonomi, dan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan menuju desa mandiri. Aspek yang harus dipenuhi dalam pembangunan desa mandiri menurut Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 1974 Tentang Pokok-Pokok Pemerintahan Daerah  dilihat dari kebutuhan dasar (pangan, sandang, dan papan), pelayanan dasar (pendidikan, kesehatan, dan infrastruktur dasar), lingkungan, dan kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat desa. Desa Margaluyu Kecamatan Tanjungsari Kabupaten Sumedang merupakan desa berkembang yang ingin membangun kemandirian perekonomiannya melalui pengembangan potensi Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) desa dengan tujuan meningkatkan daya saing di pasar global yang semakin kompetitif menuju desa mandiri. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan program pembinaan dalam upaya pengembangan pada masyarakat  UMKM  Keripik Singkong Putra Bungsu dan Dapur Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Mekar Saluyu. Metode yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dengan observasi, wawancara, dan pendampingan UMKM.  Program kerja yang dilakukan berupa pendampingan pembuatan surat-surat legalitas usaha yaitu SIUP, NIB, NPWP, PIRT, desain logo, dan pemasaran produk secara digital. Hasil pendampingan yang merupakan upaya kolaboratif berkelanjutan yang melibatkan mahasiswa dan masyarakat dapat memberikan dampak positif jangka panjang pada pembangunan melalui digitalisasi menuju desa mandiri. Pelaksanaan kegiatan-kegiatan ini diterima baik oleh masyarakat, dapat dilihat dari partisipasi masyarakat yang lebih aktif dalam pengembangan wilayah desa, juga berhasil membuat surat-surat legalitas usaha UMKM dan media sosial berupa Instagram (IG) untuk pemasaran produk yang diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.
