Abstract

Abstract

Background: Diabetic ulcers are complications that occur in clients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) due to poor glycemic control. The slow healing process of wounds can increase the risk of wound complications, which will affect the duration of healing. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and family support with the level of stress in DM patients with diabetic ulcers at Bhakti Asih General Hospital in Tangerang City. Method: This is a quantitative study with a Cross-Sectional approach. The sample consists of 62 DM patients using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this study are questionnaires on knowledge, family support, and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 (DASS 42). Data were analyzed using Spearman's rho test and presented in the form of frequency distribution tables. Results: The findings show that the majority of the knowledge variable indicates good family support (94.9%), and the stress level variable falls into the moderate stress category (66.7%). The correlation coefficient in this study shows a significant positive correlation between knowledge and family support with the level of stress in DM patients with diabetic ulcers (r = 0.490; p = 0.001), concluding that as family support increases, the level of stress in DM patients with diabetic ulcers improves. Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge and family support with the level of stress in DM patients with diabetic ulcers in the Nusa Indah room at Bhakti Asih General Hospital in Tangerang City.

Research Method: This quantitative study uses primary data from questionnaires with a Field Research method. The sample consists of 40 respondents, and data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square Test. Research Results: The results of the Chi-Square test show a significant relationship between knowledge (ρ = 0.000), attitudes (ρ = 0.012), health worker support (ρ = 0.009), and family support (ρ = 0.000) towards dietary behavior related to hypertension in the elderly. Conclusion: Overall, knowledge, attitudes, health worker support, and family support influence dietary behavior related to hypertension in the elderly, which can impact the effective management of hypertension and prevent further complications. Recommendation: For future researchers, this study has limitations, and it is hoped that further research can develop this topic with a more comprehensive research methodology approach.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension has a high prevalence of 43.11%, which is even higher among the elderly in Indonesia. The treatment of hypertension requires long-term therapy, making medication adherence crucial for controlling blood pressure and preventing complications. Sample: The sample in this study consisted of 76 pregnant women in Tangkil Tengah and Rengas villages. After screening according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, 62 pregnant women were selected as respondents. Method: This study employed a correlational analytical method using a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire that included the variables to be studied. The analysis used was univariate analysis with frequency distribution and percentages, and bivariate analysis using the Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS). Results: The knowledge of elderly individuals with hypertension about hypertension was categorized as high (9%), moderate (35%), and low (57%), while adherence to antihypertensive medication was categorized as high (24%), moderate (7%), and low (70%). The correlation analysis in this study, using the Chi-square test, showed a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of adherence to antihypertensive medication among the elderly, with a p-value of 0.00. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of adherence to antihypertensive medication among the elderly at RSU Bhakti Asih Ciledug.
