Abstract

Women entrepreneurs face financial constraints due to limited access to traditional banking, lack of collateral, and systemic biases. This study explores Sharia-compliant crowdfunding as an alternative financing model to enhance financial inclusion. Using a qualitative approach with library research, the study proposes a model integrating social intermediation (group formation, client appraisal, capacity building) and financial intermediation (qardh hasan for interest-free loans, musyarakah for investment-based financing). Findings suggest this approach can bridge the financing gap, promote women's economic participation, and create a more inclusive financial ecosystem. Expanding Islamic crowdfunding and financial literacy can further empower women entrepreneurs and drive sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

East Java Province stands as the second largest contributor to Indonesia’s economy, driven by its strong industrial, trade, and agricultural sectors. However, disparities in human development and labor market dynamics persist across regions. This study aims to investigate the effects of the Human Development Index (HDI), Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR), and Open Unemployment Rate (OUR) on regional economic growth in East Java during 2017–2023. Using panel data regression from 38 regencies/cities and applying the Common Effect Model with robust standard errors, the findings reveal that HDI positively and significantly influences economic growth, reflecting the pivotal role of human capital. In contrast, LFPR and OUR both show significant negative effects, suggesting that labor participation without quality employment and high unemployment undermine economic performance. These results imply that merely increasing labor participation is insufficient without parallel improvements in job quality, economic diversification, and workforce productivity. The study contributes to regional development literature by highlighting the nuanced interplay between human development and labor market indicators. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers to prioritize inclusive human resource development, reduce unemployment, and enhance the quality of labor market absorption to foster sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

This study examines the link between rising deforestation in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra and the ecological vulnerability that intensified hydrometeorological disasters in late 2025. The purpose of this research is to analyze deforestation trends, assess their connection to the ecological disasters that occurred, and explore these phenomena through an Islamic perspective. The study employs a qualitative method using a library research design, drawing on scientific sources, official reports, and secondary data on forest-cover loss and disaster documentation. The findings indicate a consistent increase in deforestation from 2019 to 2024, while cumulative forest loss from 2001 to 2024 has reached approximately 3.3 million hectares, significantly weakening the ecological capacity of forests to maintain hydrological balance and soil stability. The Islamic analysis reveals that excessive exploitation contradicts the principles of amanah (trust), mīzān (balance), and the prohibitions against fasād (corruption) and isrāf (excessiveness), demonstrating that environmental destruction carries moral and spiritual dimensions. This study concludes that forest management in Sumatra requires an approach grounded not only in ecological and economic considerations but also in Islamic values that emphasize stewardship, moderation, and sustainability.

Abstract

This study highlights the urgency of implementing a Takaful-based protection scheme to address the increasing vulnerability of gig workers within Indonesia’s rapidly expanding digital economy. The research aims to examine the opportunities and challenges of takaful implementation in the gig economy and to conceptualize a Pentahelix-based partnership model for developing an inclusive and sustainable Sharia-compliant insurance ecosystem. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a conceptual strategy through library research, this study analyzes academic literature, regulatory frameworks, and institutional reports related to takaful, social protection, and platform-based labor. The findings indicate that despite the steady growth of the takaful sector in Indonesia, takaful penetration among gig and informal workers remains extremely low. Limited takaful literacy, weak digital integration, and insufficient cross-sectoral policy coordination is identified as the main constraints. To overcome these challenges, this study proposes a Pentahelix collaboration model involving government, academia, industry stakeholders, communities, and media to strengthen literacy, encourage product innovation, and improve institutional coordination. This study contributes to policymaking by offering a collaborative framework for integrating takaful into Indonesia’s gig economy ecosystem and provides strategic insights for key policymakers particularly in terms of regulatory coordination, incentive alignment, and data integration mechanisms. Furthermore, the proposed Pentahelix-based model serves as an operational reference for industry stakeholders and digital platforms in embedding Sharia-compliant protection schemes within platform-based work systems.
