Abstract

The low reading literacy of elementary school students is one of the challenges in learning Indonesian. The learning process, which is still focused on textbooks and the lack of interactive media, results in students being less motivated to read and understand texts. This study aims to develop Bahasa Pedia media in Indonesian language lessons to improve the reading literacy of fifth-grade elementary school students. This study uses the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The analysis stage was conducted through a study of the curriculum, student characteristics, and learning media needs. The developed product includes materials on reading and writing procedural texts, the use of the prefix me-, the suffixes -lah and -kan, writing about hobby experiences, and writing simple letters. Feasibility testing was conducted through validation by material experts and media experts, while effectiveness testing was conducted through pretest and posttest analysis with N-Gain. The results showed that Bahasa Pedia was deemed feasible, practical, and effective for use in learning. There was an increase in students' reading literacy skills, ranging from moderate to high. Thus, Bahasa Pedia can be an alternative, innovative learning medium to support the improvement of reading literacy in fifth-grade elementary school students.
