Abstract

Globalization continues to reshape education systems worldwide, compelling national governments to reassess and reform their educational policies. This study explores how globalization affects national education policy across social, economic, and governance dimensions. Using a systematic narrative review methodology, literature was collected from Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar using targeted keywords such as "globalization in education," "educational policy," and "academic mobility." Inclusion criteria focused on empirical and conceptual studies published between 2000 and 2024. The findings are organized around three primary social, economic, and policy-related factors. Social dynamics, including family structure and cultural values, significantly influence educational access and outcomes. Economic conditions such as household income and unemployment directly shape educational opportunities, while policy frameworks and international regulations determine how countries respond to global educational trends. The study highlights disparities between developed and developing countries in both policy implementation and outcomes. It also emphasizes the systemic barriers that hinder education reforms, including inadequate infrastructure, regulatory misalignments, and limited stakeholder participation. The discussion suggests that effective policy requires localization of global frameworks, inclusive governance, and investments in technology and equity. In conclusion, addressing these challenges demands coordinated action, context-aware policy adaptation, and further interdisciplinary research to enhance educational equity in a rapidly globalizing world.

Abstract

Lifelong learning is increasingly recognized as a cornerstone of equitable and sustainable education systems in the digital age. This narrative review explores the global trends, challenges, and policy implications of lifelong learning, with a focus on digital inclusion, adult education, and equitable access. Drawing on a systematic review of academic literature from databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar, the study synthesizes findings related to the role of digital technologies, inclusive strategies, and policy frameworks. The analysis reveals that while digital tools such as online learning platforms and AI-enabled systems offer significant potential to expand access and personalize learning, several systemic barriers persist. These include infrastructural deficits, low digital literacy, economic disparities, and cultural stigma toward adult education. Furthermore, while many policies support lifelong learning, their impact is often limited by lack of alignment with learners' socio-cultural realities. The discussion highlights the interplay of policy, economy, and culture in shaping lifelong learning outcomes and proposes several solutions, including inclusive policy design, cross-sector collaboration, and community-based education. The review concludes that lifelong learning must be reimagined through inclusive, flexible, and context-sensitive frameworks. Future research should address the limitations in empirical evidence on long-term outcomes and explore hybrid models tailored to resource-constrained settings. Such efforts are essential for building adaptive and inclusive education systems that empower individuals and promote social equity.

Abstract

Inclusive education for children with special needs is a central principle in global education reform, aiming to ensure equitable access and participation in mainstream schooling. This narrative review explores current practices, challenges, and innovations in inclusive education, synthesizing insights from international literature. Using a structured search across databases such as Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, ERIC, and JSTOR, the review identifies key factors influencing inclusive learning: teacher training, educational technology, family engagement, curriculum flexibility, policy frameworks, and funding. Findings indicate that personalized learning technologies, when supported by trained educators, enhance student engagement and academic performance. Teachers who undergo inclusive pedagogical training demonstrate higher confidence and competence in addressing diverse learner needs. Family involvement and community support emerge as critical enablers of social and emotional development in inclusive settings. Moreover, flexible curricula and supportive policies correlate with improved student outcomes. However, persistent barriers remain, including lack of funding, infrastructural limitations, societal stigma, and inconsistent implementation of inclusive policies. This review emphasizes the need for comprehensive policy reforms, sustained investments in teacher development, adaptive curricula, and cross-sector collaboration. It also highlights the importance of equity-driven technology integration to address existing disparities. Future research should prioritize longitudinal and participatory studies that reflect the lived experiences of students with special needs. The study underscores that achieving truly inclusive education requires systemic transformation supported by cultural change, educational equity, and collaborative partnerships.

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive narrative review examining the intersection of Islamic education and cultural identity construction in the context of global modernity. The research investigates how Islamic educational institutions navigate the tension between maintaining traditional religious values and adapting to contemporary global demands. Employing a narrative review method, the study synthesizes evidence from diverse empirical studies and theoretical frameworks that explore both structural and pedagogical dimensions of identity formation. Key findings indicate that Islamic identity is not a static entity but a dynamic construct shaped through selective adaptation, where traditional and modern elements coexist. Educational institutions such as pesantren and Islamic universities employ formal curricula alongside hidden curricula, which together shape students' values and beliefs. However, systemic challenges such as bureaucratic rigidity, limited infrastructure, and misaligned policies hinder effective identity development. The discussion integrates postcolonial and interdisciplinary theories to critique Western-centric educational models and advocate for culturally grounded approaches. The study concludes that responsive educational reforms, inclusive stakeholder collaboration, and strategic digital integration are crucial for sustaining Islamic identity in the modern era. This review underscores the need for culturally sensitive policy frameworks and calls for future research to explore hybrid educational models across diverse sociopolitical contexts.

Abstract

This narrative review explores recent innovations and systemic reforms in assessment practices within Islamic education, focusing on student-centered approaches, digital integration, competency-based evaluation, and the influence of cultural-religious values. The study employs a structured methodology involving database searches (Scopus, ERIC, Google Scholar), Boolean keyword combinations, and rigorous inclusion-exclusion criteria. The review synthesizes empirical findings from peer-reviewed literature, analyzing trends and best practices across global Islamic educational contexts. Key results indicate that authentic and formative assessments enhance student engagement and reflective learning. Digital tools, though unevenly adopted, improve efficiency and access. Competency-based reforms support a holistic appraisal of cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions of learning. Meanwhile, diverse interpretations of Islamic values lead to varied assessment practices across regions. Systemic enablers such as government policy, institutional frameworks, and continuous teacher training—especially through models like Lesson Study and self-assessment—are pivotal to successful implementation. Despite these advancements, challenges remain in digital infrastructure, educator readiness, and policy alignment. This review calls for comprehensive, culturally grounded, and scalable reforms, recommending greater investment in capacity-building and adaptive policy design. It underscores that learner-centered and ethically aligned assessments are essential to meet the pedagogical goals of Islamic education in the 21st century.

Abstract

The convergence between religious compliance and scientific safety protocols has become increasingly important in developing halal-certified cosmetics. This study investigates the integration of Halalan Thayyiban principles rooted in Islamic law and modern regulatory standards within Indonesia’s herbal and cosmetic industries. The objective is to develop a regulatory-scientific model that aligns the requirements of halal certification (HAS 23000, UU 33/2014) with quality assurance protocols (ISO 22716, PerBPOM 16/2024). Using a normative-qualitative approach, the study analyzes regulatory documents, certification procedures, and safety test standards. Key elements of the halal certification process are examined, including the SIHALAL platform, halal-critical ingredient mapping, and the documentation framework. Parallel to this, thayyib criteria are addressed through microbiological and chemical safety evaluations, product stability assessments, and patch testing protocols aligned with international benchmarks. Findings reveal strong compatibility between halal and thayyib systems, enabling the development of an integrated compliance model. The proposed framework incorporates regulatory checkpoints, supplier documentation, GMP alignment, and technological innovations such as RFID and blockchain for traceability. The study also identifies institutional roles, implementation challenges particularly among SMEs and strategic support mechanisms to enhance certification readiness. The integrated Halalan Thayyiban framework offers a dual benefit: it ensures syariah compliance while upholding modern safety standards, thus improving consumer trust and market positioning. These findings contribute to the discourse on regulatory harmonization and provide practical guidance for producers, auditors, and policymakers.
