Abstract

The rapid growth of Sharia FinTech applications in Indonesia has raised questions about user perceptions and experiences. This study employs a Netnographic approach to explore user feedback on Sharia FinTech apps through reviews posted on the Google Play store. The research analyzed 129 reviews from five Sharia FinTech applications between July and December 2023. The study reveals that 55.10% of users expressed overall satisfaction with the apps, appreciating their ease of use and Sharia compliance. However, significant challenges were identified, with 37.50% of negative reviews related to payment delays and interest issues. Other concerns included system errors, account creation difficulties, and poor customer service. These findings highlight the complex dynamics of user experiences with Sharia FinTech applications, demonstrating a generally positive reception but also pointing to critical areas for improvement. The study contributes to the understanding of Sharia FinTech adoption in Indonesia and provides valuable insights for application developers and Islamic microfinance institutions to enhance their services and address user concerns.

Abstract

This paper assesses the state of Islam in Post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan. It examines the challenges Islam faces due to the diversity of ideologies bequeathed by the Soviet Union. Although Islam emerged as a dominant religious belief in post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan, due to the internal elements of secularism, Tengrism, and other indigenous ideologies, and the interpretation of Islamic lore coupled with the Soviet ideology of atheism, Islam remains syncretic with some loose extremism fuelled by home-grown socio-political factors and imported fundamentalism. It, therefore, concludes that the challenge to Islam and Islamic religious identity in contemporary Kyrgyzstan is a sort of ‘Muslimo-phobia’ rather than ‘Islamo-phobia’ because the challenge to Islam is clearly unleashed by the Muslims themselves and not the minority non-Muslim population.

Abstract

This study examines the value of Javanese customary heritage in inheritance distribution in the Jatinom community, Klaten, focusing on applying customary law and its conformity with Islamic heritage law. The research analyzes the “Sapikul Sagendhongan” inheritance system and explores social and cultural factors affecting inheritance distribution. This study utilized a socio-legal approach and employed qualitative analysis through in-depth interviews with four respondents and examination of related legal documents. Results show that the Jatinom community consistently implements an inheritance distribution system that gives a more significant portion to male heirs than women, with a 2:1 ratio, primarily due to the perception that men have greater family responsibilities. While Javanese customary law remains dominant, there is an adaptation to Islamic law principles in inheritance distribution. Cultural factors, such as family values and cooperation traditions, play a significant role. The Jatinom community is committed to maintaining cultural values while respecting religious provisions. This study provides new insights into the interaction between local traditions and broader legal norms in Javanese society, confirming that Javanese customary law and Islamic law can operate harmoniously in inheritance distribution, ensuring cultural preservation without violating religious principles. The research contributes to understanding the complex dynamics of inheritance practices in Indonesia, highlighting the importance of considering local customs in legal frameworks.
