Abstract

The advancement of technology in education has led to the development of interactive and personalized learning tools. This research focuses on creating mobile learning application with multimedia and AI support to improve student engagement, motivation, and academic performance in higher education. This research aims to answer the question: How effective is an AI-based mobile learning app with multimedia support in enhancing student interactivity, motivation, and performance in higher education? The research follows the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data was collected from expert validators (media and material experts) and student feedback. A quantitative descriptive analysis was done using Likert-scale instruments to measure user experience, interactivity, motivation, and learning outcomes. The application was tested on 38 students, and their feedback was used to assess its effectiveness. The results show that the AI-based mobile learning app significantly improved student interactivity, motivation, and academic performance. The post-test results showed an average score of 81.82%, indicating an improvement in learning outcomes. Students expressed high satisfaction with the app’s interactivity, multimedia content, and personalized learning paths. The AI-driven real-time feedback contributed to a more engaging learning experience. In conclusion, the AI-based mobile learning app with multimedia support effectively enhances student engagement, motivation, and academic performance. The integration of personalized learning paths and real-time feedback makes learning more interactive and adaptive. These findings highlight the need to design future mobile learning apps that prioritize accessibility and adaptability.

Abstract

Vocabulary learning remains a central yet challenging component of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, particularly in contexts where classroom learning serves as the primary source of language exposure. Traditional teaching approaches often rely on memorization and translation, which may not effectively promote active learning or long-term retention. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of the Kahoot gamified learning platform on students’ vocabulary acquisition in an EFL context. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design was conducted with two intact tenth-grade classes at SMK Negeri 2 Kolaka, consisting of 30 students in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. The treatment was implemented over six meetings using a 25-item multiple-choice vocabulary test with high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.940). T-tests for independent and paired samples were used to analyze the data, identifying within-group improvements and between-group differences. The findings indicated that the experimental group taught through Kahoot achieved significantly higher post-test scores than the control group (p < 0.05). The results suggest that integrating Kahoot as a gamified learning platform can enhance students’ vocabulary mastery, increase engagement, and foster a more interactive learning environment in EFL classrooms. These results underscore the capability of Kahoot-based instruction to extend current understanding of digital gamification in EFL vocabulary teaching by demonstrating measurable gains in learner outcomes.

Abstract

Pelatihan bahasa Inggris untuk anggota kepolisian menjadi semakin relevan di era globalisasi, terutama dalam meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan publik, khususnya di wilayah yang berpotensi menerima kunjungan internasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi bahasa Inggris anggota kepolisian Kecamatan Wundulako melalui program pelatihan intensif. Pelatihan ini dirancang dengan pendekatan berbasis tugas dan simulasi, yang menekankan pada penggunaan bahasa Inggris dalam situasi nyata yang sering dihadapi anggota kepolisian, seperti memberikan arahan, menangani keluhan, dan menghadapi situasi darurat. Sebanyak 10 peserta yang merupakan anggota kepolisian setempat mengikuti pelatihan ini. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan berbahasa Inggris peserta, yang diukur melalui pre-test dan post-test, dengan rata-rata peningkatan skor sebesar 33,5%. Selain itu, hasil observasi selama simulasi juga menunjukkan bahwa peserta mampu menerapkan keterampilan bahasa Inggris mereka dengan lebih efektif dalam situasi yang relevan dengan tugas mereka. Peserta mengakui bahwa pelatihan ini memberikan manfaat besar, terutama dalam meningkatkan rasa percaya diri mereka dalam berinteraksi dengan warga asing. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini berhasil mencapai tujuannya dan diharapkan dapat diterapkan di wilayah lain dengan situasi serupa untuk mendukung peningkatan pelayanan publik di kalangan aparat kepolisian.
