Abstract

Background. This study explores the relationship between civic education and active political participation among students. As democracy and civic engagement become increasingly essential in modern societies, understanding how education influences political behavior is critical. Civic education aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to participate effectively in democratic processes. Purpose. The purpose of this research is to examine how civic education impacts students’ attitudes toward political participation and their actual involvement in political activities. Method. This study uses a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews. The survey was administered to 300 high school and university students, assessing their understanding of political processes, civic responsibilities, and participation in political activities. The qualitative interviews provided deeper insights into students’ personal experiences and motivations. Results. The results show that students who received more comprehensive civic education demonstrated higher levels of political awareness and were more likely to engage in activities such as voting, attending political meetings, and participating in social movements. Conclusion. The study concludes that civic education plays a significant role in fostering active political participation among students. Integrating civic education into the curriculum can enhance democratic engagement and ensure that future generations are equipped to contribute to the political landscape.

Abstract

Psychological well-being is a critical factor influencing overall mental health, yet traditional counseling approaches may not fully address the diverse needs of clients. Art therapy, as a creative and expressive intervention, has gained recognition for its potential to enhance psychological well-being through non-verbal and experiential processes. This study investigates the influence of art therapy in counseling and its effectiveness in promoting psychological well-being. The research aimed to evaluate the impact of art therapy on emotional regulation, self-awareness, and stress reduction among individuals seeking counseling services. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. A total of 80 participants were divided into intervention and control groups, with the intervention group attending a 10-week art therapy program integrated into their counseling sessions. Data were collected through standardized psychological well-being scales and semi-structured interviews. Results indicated significant improvements in psychological well-being scores for the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.01). Participants reported increased emotional expression, enhanced coping mechanisms, and a stronger sense of self-awareness. Qualitative data supported these findings, highlighting art therapy’s role in fostering a safe and reflective space for personal growth. The study concludes that art therapy is an effective complementary approach in counseling, offering valuable benefits for enhancing psychological well-being. These findings underscore the importance of integrating creative methods into therapeutic practices.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education has accelerated rapidly, presenting both opportunities and disruptions for traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) that have long relied on face-to-face, text-centered, and teacher-led instructional traditions. The shift toward e-learning environments challenges established pedagogical norms, teacher authority, and communal learning structures that are central to pesantren identity. The growing pressure to integrate digital tools highlights the need to understand how pesantren negotiate pedagogical, technological, and cultural tensions during this transition. This study aims to analyze the extent of e-learning adoption, identify the key challenges faced by teachers and students, and examine how digital pedagogy aligns—or conflicts—with traditional Islamic educational practices. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining surveys from 220 teachers and students in selected pesantren with in-depth interviews involving kyai, ustadz, and senior students. Descriptive and inferential analyses were conducted to assess levels of digital readiness, perceived usefulness of e-learning tools, and barriers encountered during implementation, while thematic analysis captured cultural and pedagogical insights. The findings reveal low-to-moderate levels of digital adoption, constrained primarily by limited infrastructure, low digital literacy, and concerns about maintaining adab and discipline in online environments. Teachers reported significant challenges in designing digital instructional materials, while students experienced decreased engagement and difficulty adapting to self-directed learning. Despite these obstacles, some pesantren demonstrated innovative hybrid models that preserved traditional learning values while incorporating digital platforms. The study concludes that successful e-learning transformation requires culturally responsive digital pedagogy, targeted training for educators, and institutional strategies that harmonize technology with pesantren’s spiritual-communal ethos.
