Abstract

This research explores the integration of technology in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and its influence on learning effectiveness in the modern era through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) combined with content analysis, examining data from accredited academic journals. The findings indicate that technology enhances pesantren learning through innovations such as e-learning platforms, digitization of kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts), modern administrative tools, and expanded da’wah outreach while facilitating collaborations with external institutions to strengthen infrastructure. However, challenges such as limited technological resources, low digital literacy, and concerns about the negative impacts of technology on students’ character persist. To address these issues, pesantren adopt strategies including digital literacy training, collaboration with external partners, the establishment of internal regulations, and a moderated approach to technology use, ensuring technological advancements align with Islamic values. This study contributes by providing a framework for balancing tradition and modernity, offering practical insights for policymakers and educators to optimize technology use in pesantren, empowering students to thrive in a globalized and interconnected world while preserving their cultural and religious essence.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berisi sejarah kejayaan Islam di era turky usmani yang memiliki peran penting dalam sejarah pertumbuhan umat Islam. Di era kejayaanya turky merupakan negara yang mampu bersaing dengan negara-negara adikuasa di barat. Lebih tepatnya ketika kekuasaan ottoman mulai menaklukan daerah konstantinopel dari pihak Romawi Timur. Dari situlah turky memulai maju dalam bidang ekonomi, politik, pendidikan dan militer. Namun seiring berjalanya waktu turky mulai mengalami penurunan dan mengalami kekalahan dengan negri barat, sebab itulah di era sultan Mahmud II banyak terjadi perubahan-perubahan yang sangat signifikan dalam bidang kurikulum maupun sistem pendidikan dan fokus negara terhapan militer.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology in the digital era has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including in the world of education. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is no exception, facing the challenge of remaining relevant and effective in shaping students' personality characters. The current PAI curriculum is considered not fully able to accommodate the needs of the times that demand the integration of Islamic values ​​with digital competencies. The urgency of reformulating the PAI curriculum is very important in order to create an adaptive, innovative, and future-oriented learning model. This study aims to express constructive ideas in reformulating the PAI curriculum by referring to Paulo Freire's thoughts, while the method used is qualitative based on literature studies. In the end, this study concluded that the reformulation of the PAI curriculum can be realized by adopting the theory of integrity-reality initiated by Paulo Freire, the integrity-reality in question is integrating Islamic values ​​and the sophistication of digital technology. Reformulation of the PAI curriculum can be done by continuing to place the source of Islamic teachings as a fundamental rule, and placing humans as the main center in science. In other words, digital technology is only used as a limited tool in learning and teaching methods.
