Abstract

The development of the tourism sector has a positive impact on city growth through increased profits and revenues, encouraging competition from city managers in increasing tourist attraction through facilities, investment, employment, and local income. The development of tourism-supporting infrastructure accelerates city growth by increasing population, economic interaction, and land cover transformation. This study identifies the relationship between tourism development, economic transformation, socio-population, and land cover. The 2016-2021 constant price GDP shift-share analysis is used to understand economic transformation, while the 2020-2021 population growth and population density analysis for social aspects. As a result, the socio-population aspect shows a transformation in Batu City, where manufacturing business has shifted to service business as the main occupation, which has an impact on increasing population growth. In land cover, significant changes are seen in built-up, open, plantation, and forest. This research provides a preliminary analysis of the development of the tourism sector from the economic, socio-population, and land cover aspects in 2016-2022. These transformations reflect dynamic changes in the city's economic and social structure, requiring continuous monitoring for better policies.

Abstract

Tourism is widely recognized as one of the most climate-sensitive economic sectors, with destinations in tropical regions increasingly exposed to the impacts of global warming and rapid urbanization. Rising temperatures and the intensification of urban heat island effects have become critical challenges for tourist thermal comfort, destination competitiveness, and the sustainability of tourism development worldwide. As a globally renowned tourism destination, Bali faces growing environmental pressures associated with land-use change and expanding built-up areas; however, empirical studies linking surface temperature dynamics with tourism comfort remain limited. This study aims to analyze the spatiotemporal dynamics of Land Surface Temperature (LST) in Bali Province and assess their implications for tourist thermal comfort and sustainable tourism planning. A remote sensing-based analysis was conducted using satellite imagery from 2014 and 2024 to identify LST changes and evaluate thermal conditions in major tourism hotspots. Thermal comfort benchmarks were established based on internationally recognized thermal comfort indices and tourism climate literature to determine whether current temperature conditions remain within acceptable comfort thresholds. Land cover change analysis was also performed to examine the relationship between land-use transformation and surface temperature variations. The results indicate a significant increase in LST across key tourism areas, particularly in densely urbanized environments, with several popular destinations exceeding optimal thermal comfort ranges. These findings suggest potential risks to visitor experience and long-term destination attractiveness. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating LST and thermal comfort considerations into tourism and spatial planning and provides a replicable methodological framework.

Abstract

Isu sustainability dalam konteks pariwisata sangat penting untuk ditanamkan, khususnya pada jenis pariwisata yang memiliki dampak besar terhadap lingkungan seperti urban tourism. Terdapat banyak kota di dunia ataupun di indonesia mengalami fenomena urban heat island yang salah satunya disebabkan oleh aktivitas Urban tourism. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pemetaan kenyamanan suhu udara bagi wisatawan di Kota Makassar sebagai salah satu urban tourism di Indonesia. Terdapat 2 komponen utama yang menjadi inti dalam penelitian ini, yakni kondisi suhu permukaan eksisting dan tingkat kenyamanan suhu udara bagi manusia. Untuk mengetahui kondisi suhu permukaan di Kota Makassar, digunakan analisis land surface temperature menggunakan penginderaan jarak jauh. Tingkat kenyamanan suhu bagi manusia dirumuskan dengan tinjauan 3 standar yang digunakan dalam penelitian, yakni standar nasional indonesia, WHO dan ASHRAE. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa suhu permukaan Kota Makassar relatif tinggi. Jika dikomparasikan dengan tingkat toleransi kenyamanan suhu udara manusia, terdapat beberapa Kecamatan yang masuk dalam kategori tidak nyaman bagi manusia atau wisatawan yang berkunjung. Penerapan green infrastructure menjadi pendekatan yang sesuai bagi Kota Makassar untuk mereduksi dampak urban heat island.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi aksesibilitas menuju destinasi pariwisata di Pulau Sumba yang notabene menjadi kawasan destinasi wisata prioritas di Indonesia. Untuk mengidentifikasi aksesibilitas pada penelitian ini, menggunakan alat analisis space syntax dengan menggunakan software depthmapx. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode sekunder dengan memanfaatkan data publikasi dari berbagai instansi dan meminta data pada instansi yang ada di Provinsi NTT. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Kabupaten Sumba Timur memiliki infrastruktur transportasi yang paling lengkap dengan adanya 2 terminal angkutan umum, 1 bandara dan 2 pelabuhan. Dari aspek kelengkapan infrastruktur transportasi di Pulau Sumba teridentifikasi kelemahan minimnya infrastruktur angkutan umum diluar Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Dari hasil analisis aksesibilitas jaringan jalan menggunakan space syntax, diketahui bahwa terdapat 43,4% berada pada aksesibilitas tinggi dan 56,6% berada di aksesibilitas sedang dan aksesibilitas rendah. Secara regional, Kabupaten Sumba Timur yang memiliki infrastruktur transportasi yang relatif lebih lengkap, menjadi Kabupaten di Pulau Sumba yang memiliki jaringan jalan dengan aksesibilitas rendah terbesar di Pulau Sumba, yakni 2.120,09 kilometer. Hal ini harus menjadi perhatian dikarenakan jumlah wisatawan terbesar yang ada di Pulau Sumba ada di Kabupaten Sumba timur.
