Abstract

Abstract

Health and beauty are essential aspects of a Muslimah’s life, which Islamic values should maintain as a form of gratitude and responsibility for the body entrusted by Allah. However, a lack of education regarding proper, healthy, and halal self-care practices remains an issue. This community service program aims to enhance Muslim women's understanding of healthy and Islamic-compliant skincare through a seminar and beauty class themed "Care about Beauty, Care about Health". The activities consisted of an educational seminar on skincare awareness and a hands-on beauty class using halal-certified products. The implementation methods included lectures, demonstrations, interactive Q&A sessions, and evaluation via questionnaires. The program involved both academics and halal beauty practitioners from Wardah. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge of skincare techniques and awareness in selecting safe, halal beauty products. Program outputs included an educational self-care module, an article publication, and visual documentation, serving as a reference and evaluation material for future programs. This initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on raising awareness among Muslim women about the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to personal care, one that combines physical wellness with spiritual integrity.

Abstract

Technological developments demand adaptation in the world of education, particularly in the integration of technology into mathematics learning. Prospective student teachers need to possess the competencies to create innovative learning media that are not only content-accurate but also visually and technologically engaging. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) content in producing Android-based mathematics learning media. The method used was descriptive qualitative through triangulation of observation data, discussions, and analysis of the output product. The results showed that PjBL facilitated students in practicing the engineering cycle of media creation. However, obstacles were encountered in the Technology and Mathematics elements, where students experienced difficulty transforming textbook content into the system logic of an Android application. Furthermore, technical barriers to mastery of tools (Technology) such as iSpring Suite were a major challenge. Nevertheless, this approach successfully encouraged students to integrate art elements into interface design and mathematical logic within a single, integrated product. It was concluded that the implementation of PjBL with a STEAM nuance effectively helped lecturers and students produce usable digital media products.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examined whether collaborative learning using worked examples improved students’ mathematical problem-solving performance compared with conventional instruction. A quantitative quasi-experimental study used a non-equivalent control group design involving 32 Grade 11 students at a private senior high school in Tangerang, Indonesia. Two existing classes were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using an eight-item constructed-response test on integral calculus, developed around Pólya’s four problem-solving stages. Analyses included descriptive statistics, ANCOVA with pretest scores as the covariate, and the Mann–Whitney U test, with a significance level of 5%. Pretest scores were significantly associated with posttest scores, F(1, 29) = 23.071, p < .001, ηp2 = .443. After adjustment for pretest scores, the group difference in posttest scores was not significant, F(1, 29) = 0.167, p = .686, ηp2 = .006. The Mann–Whitney U test likewise showed no significant difference in normalized gain (U = 132.50, p = .865). Thus, this study did not establish an advantage of collaborative learning using worked examples over conventional instruction. The findings do not demonstrate equivalence and should be interpreted cautiously given the small, nonrandomized sample and incomplete reporting of model diagnostics.
