Abstract

Escalating disasters in Indonesia (3,472 events in 2024) demand Rapid Health Assessment (RHA) competency among health students, yet curriculum integration remains inadequate. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between cognitive RHA competency and disaster preparedness. An observational analytic cross-sectional study involved 310 medical, nursing, and midwifery students at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo using Proportional Stratified Random Sampling. Instruments comprised Guttman scale questionnaires (RHA knowledge) and Likert scale (preparedness), analyzed via Spearman's Rho test (α=0.05) using SPSS. Results revealed 61.1% respondents achieved "Good" RHA knowledge category with significant correlation (p=0.004). The study concludes RHA competency positively contributes to disaster preparedness through implicit knowledge, recommending interprofessional simulation for curriculum transformation.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the success rate of TB treatment in 2023 has not yet reached the national target. Treatment of TB aims to cure the patient, prevent death, and prevent drug resistance. However, patients often fail to adhere to treatment due to the lengthy treatment period and side effects of the medication. The utilization of M-Health as a medium for audiovisual education is one of the efforts that can be made to improve treatment adherence behavior. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of utilizing WhatsApp-based M-Health with an audiovisual education approach on treatment adherence behavior, reviewed from the aspects of knowledge, attitude, and action, in tuberculosis patients. This study uses a Quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test with control group design. The sample in this study consisted of TB patients undergoing Anti-Tuberculosis treatment in North Bolaang Mongondow Regency, with a total of 80 respondents, comprising 40 treatment group respondents and 40 control group respondents. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire administered to respondents to measure their knowledge, attitudes, and action. Statistical analysis was conducted using Paired t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and Mann-Whitney test. The results of this study indicated a statistically significant difference in knowledge, attitude, and action scores pre- and post-intervention (p = 0.000). Additionally, the Mann-Whitney test demonstrated a significant difference in knowledge, attitude, and action between the intervention and control groups (p = 0.000). The utilization of M-Health with an audiovisual education approach has a positive impact on improving treatment adherence behavior in terms of knowledge, attitude, and action.

Abstract

Female workers face various risks that can potentially disrupt their health in the workplace, thus requiring proper health maintenance and protection. This study aims to analyze the fulfillment of female workers' health needs through the implementation of the Healthy and Productive Female Workers Movement (GP2SP) program in Asparaga sub-district, Gorontalo Regency. This research utilized a descriptive qualitative design. The study's sample consisted of 26 informants, including 3 key informants (the Head of the Occupational Health Program, the Head of the Asparaga Community Health Center, and the GP2SP Program Coordinator) and 23 female workers selected using probability sampling. The instruments used were observation sheets and interview questions. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the GP2SP program successfully met the health needs of the female workers. This is evidenced by various activities, including: Routine health check-ups, Health education in the work environment, Regular body weight and Body Mass Index measurements, Provision of adequate nutritional intake, Monthly health check-ups for pregnant women, Availability of lactation corners and breast milk storage facilities. Overall, this study concludes that the GP2SP program successfully fulfilled the health, nutrition, and maternal and breastfeeding health aspects for female workers in the Asparaga sub-district.

Abstract

Posyandu serves as a crucial frontline service for maternal and child health. Although child growth monitoring and nutrition recording in Gorontalo Province have reached 100% coverage, the quality of Posyandu cadre performance still varies. Understanding the factors that influence cadre performance is essential for improving service quality, especially among cadres without health-related educational backgrounds. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with cadre performance in providing maternal and child health services at Posyandu. This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 100 Posyandu cadres each with a non-health educational background were included using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using structured questionnaires that had undergone validity and reliability testing prior to use. The analysis examined the influence of training, motivation, health center support, and community involvement on cadre performance. The findings showed that training had a significant effect on cadre performance (p = 0.029; R² = 0.048), as did motivation (p = 0.009; R² = 0.068). Health center support was not significantly associated with performance (p = 0.814; R² = 0.001). Community involvement was identified as the most influential factor (p = 0.006; R² = 0.075). Cadre performance at Posyandu is strongly influenced by motivation and community involvement, while training remains essential for enhancing the competence of cadres with non-health educational backgrounds. Strengthening these key factors can help improve the quality of maternal and child health services at the community level.
