Abstract

This study investigates the application of Islamic counseling interventions to address LGBT behavior among students in schools, with a focus on mental and spiritual guidance grounded in Indonesian legal provisions, specifically Article 292 of the Criminal Code and Article 414, paragraph (1) of Law No. 1/2023. Employing a qualitative research design, the study engaged 24 participants, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, document analysis, and audio-visual materials. Data analysis was conducted through triangulation, synthesis, interpretation, and the formulation of propositions. The findings reveal that Islamic counseling effectively mitigates LGBT behaviors among students through spiritual practices, including daily prayers, Quran recitation, memorization of short surahs, and transcription of Quranic verses. From a legal perspective, LGBT-related actions are in violation of Article 292 of the Criminal Code and Article 414, paragraph (1) of Law No. 1/2023, which stipulate criminal penalties ranging from 5 to 9 years of imprisonment. The imposition of these legal sanctions serves as a deterrent, encouraging students to critically reflect on the potential consequences of their actions. This research contributes a novel approach by integrating a humanistic and religious framework within counseling interventions, while also emphasizing the role of Indonesian legal regulations in fostering legal awareness and deterring unlawful behavior. This dual approach highlights the potential of combining spiritual guidance with legal education to address behavioral challenges among students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the practices of reading and writing the Qur'an in reducing negative behaviors among students in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The study seeks to analyze how the practices of reading and writing the Qur'an contribute to reducing negative behaviors of SMK students. Negative behaviors in SMK students, such as violations of rules, attendance issues, tardiness, bullying among students, school fights, and other tendencies toward aggressive behavior, remain serious challenges in the educational field. One approach used by value-based religious schools is the implementation of reading and writing the Qur'an as part of student character development. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques, including observation, document study, and audiovisual information. The results of the study indicate that the practice of reading and writing the Qur’an regularly and in a structured manner can reduce negative behavior in students. In general, some students still repeat negative behaviors after being given interventions in reading and writing the Qur’an, along with additional interventions such as written statements, cleaning school corridors, and performing the five daily prayers with photo evidence including the date, time, and location, but with significantly reduced intensity. This becomes an important note for guidance and counseling in schools, that completely stopping students' negative behavior is very difficult, but counselors can reduce or diminish the intensity of students' negative actions to a lower level. This study emphasizes that religious activities can be used as a fairly effective character education strategy in vocational schools.

Abstract

Entering formal education is an important transition in preschool children’s development that requires social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral adaptation. Parents play an important role in supporting this transition through early stimulation, emotional support, guidance, and learning experiences before children enter the school environment. This study aimed to examine the relationship between parental roles in preparing children for school and the adaptation ability of preschool children at TK Islam Shiraathal Jannah, Jakarta. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 22 parents selected through total sampling because all members of the population were included as respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires and supported by structured observations in the school environment. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, linearity testing, and Pearson Product-Moment correlation using SPSS version 25. The results showed that parental roles were categorized as very high, with a mean score of 85.55, while children’s adaptation ability was categorized as moderate, with a mean score of 52.82. Correlation analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between parental roles and preschool children’s adaptation ability (r = 0.557, p = 0.007, 95% CI = 0.18–0.79). These findings indicate that stronger parental roles in preparing children for school are associated with better adaptation ability. However, because the study used a correlational design, the findings should not be interpreted as evidence of a causal relationship. The findings highlight the importance of collaboration between parents and schools in supporting children’s adaptation during the transition to formal education.

Abstract

Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) refers to the apprehension that one may be excluded from or miss rewarding experiences and activities experienced by others, a condition that may be associated with limited self-control in social media use. This study aimed to examine the effect of self-control on FoMO among female adolescent TikTok users at SMA Widya Manggala. A quantitative approach with simple linear regression analysis was employed. The participants were 121 female students who actively used TikTok. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Descriptive analysis showed that self-control had a mean score of 59.23 and was categorized as high, whereas FoMO had a mean score of 30.69 and was categorized as moderate. Simple linear regression yielded the equation Y = 41.735 - 0.118X, indicating that higher self-control was associated with lower FoMO. The hypothesis test produced a t-value of 9.532, which was greater than the t-table value of 1.65776, indicating a significant effect of self-control on FoMO. The R Square value of 0.433 showed that self-control accounted for 43.3% of the variance in FoMO, while the remaining 56.7% was attributable to factors outside the scope of this study. These findings indicate that greater self-control is associated with lower levels of FoMO among female adolescent TikTok users at SMA Widya Manggala.
