Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of the toponymy of Danau Perintis from a geographical perspective and examine its relationship with regional identity and sustainable tourism development. The study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive geographical approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through field observations, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The data were analyzed descriptively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that Danau Perintis was originally known as Tumba Mayu, a name formed based on the physical geographical conditions of the area, namely swamps and rumbia vegetation. The change of the name to Danau Perintis is related to the history of the community’s struggle and the development of the area’s functions. The toponymy of Danau Perintis reflects the relationship between humans and the environment formed through geographical, historical, social, and cultural aspects of the local community. In addition to serving as a regional identity, the toponymy of Danau Perintis also has potential to support sustainable tourism development through the utilization of historical values, local culture, and environmental characteristics as tourist attractions. Therefore, the toponymy of Danau Perintis can become an important part of preserving local identity while supporting the development of culture- and environment-based tourism areas.

Abstract

Digital technology opens up vast opportunities for developing more innovative and interactive teaching materials. One platform that can be utilized is Google Sites, which allows teachers to systematically organize materials, integrate various learning resources, and present content in multimedia formats such as text, images, videos, and interactive links. In addition to utilizing technology, learning approaches also need to be directed at improving students' in-depth understanding of the material being studied. One relevant approach is the Deep Learning-based approach. This approach emphasizes that the learning process is not merely memorizing information, but rather understanding concepts comprehensively, linking various pieces of knowledge, and being able to apply them in everyday life. Thus, students are expected to be able to develop higher-order thinking skills that are essential in facing global challenges. However, this ideal condition has not been fully realized in learning practices in schools. Based on initial observations at SMA Negeri 1 Kabila, it was found that geography learning is still dominated by conventional methods, such as lectures and the use of textbooks as the primary source. The use of digital teaching materials is still limited, so the learning process tends to be one-way and less engaging for students. This research will be conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Kabila, located in Oluhuta, Kec. Kabila, Bone Bolango Regency. The approach employed by the researchers in this study was research and development (RD). This approach was used because the research focused on product development in the form of deep learning-based digital teaching materials.

Abstract

Minanga Beach in North Gorontalo has coastal tourism potential and a local name that reflects its geographic identity as a river mouth. This study aims to describe the origin and meaning of the Minanga toponym, analyze its relationship with coastal geographic aspects, and formulate directions for sustainable tourism development. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach through field observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, community leaders, local government, tourism managers, and visitors, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, supported by source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The results show that Minanga in the Atinggola language refers to a river mouth or the meeting area of freshwater and seawater. The name is closely related to the beach landscape, river mouth, white sand, calm waters, coastal vegetation, hills, local history, and Safar bathing tradition. Toponymy can strengthen destination narratives, community participation, environmental awareness, and sustainable tourism planning.

Abstract

Iloheluma Village, Bone Bolango Regency, possesses considerable agricultural potential through corn and patchouli commodities; however, limited post-harvest processing, weak MSME management, and low product diversification have constrained local value creation. This community service program aimed to strengthen the village creative economy through the integration of corn and patchouli cultivation, product processing, business capacity building, and agrotourism-oriented promotion. The program was implemented over 45 days using a participatory approach involving lecturers, students, village government, farmer groups, and MSME actors through training, field demonstrations, mentoring, and evaluation activities. The results indicate improvements in community capacity regarding cultivation practices, product packaging and branding, digital promotion, and simple business bookkeeping. The program also encouraged the utilization of corn and patchouli as strategic resources for educational agrotourism and local economic development. Furthermore, the integration of agricultural production, product value addition, and community-based tourism strengthened collaboration among local stakeholders and provided an initial foundation for sustainable village economic development. The program demonstrates that an integrated agrotourism-based empowerment approach can support the development of rural creative economies through the optimization of local agricultural resources.
