Abstract

The community service program titled "Leveraging Technology for Education: Supporting Online Learning for Students at SMA Parulian" aims to enhance the effectiveness of online learning by implementing modern technology at SMA Parulian. Given the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing need for remote education, many students face difficulties in accessing and utilizing digital learning resources. This program includes training for both teachers and students on the use of online learning tools and platforms, including virtual classroom management, effective interaction techniques, and access to digital educational resources. Additionally, it provides technical support and supplementary learning materials to help students adapt to the online learning environment. Evaluation results indicate a significant improvement in students' digital skills and teaching effectiveness after the training. Students reported enhanced understanding of the material and increased engagement during online classes, while teachers felt more confident in managing virtual classrooms and utilizing technology in their teaching practices. The program demonstrates that effective implementation of technology can improve online learning experiences and address some of the challenges encountered in remote education. Future recommendations include ongoing training and further development of digital resources to support sustained and effective learning.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the skills and competitiveness of community business groups in Batang Kuis Pekan Village in the fields of handicrafts, souvenirs, screen printing, and printing. The methods used include problem identification, program planning, activity implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. The program includes design and production training, digital marketing, and business financial management. The results of the evaluation showed that more than 80% of the participants were able to apply the skills taught, including the use of digital technology for marketing and financial records. The assistance provided also helped participants overcome technical obstacles in production and business management. This activity was strengthened by a discussion session with STMIK lecturer Mulia Darma who emphasized the importance of collaboration between academics, the government, and the business community in building a sustainable business ecosystem. The recommendation for the formation of a local entrepreneurial community is expected to strengthen the network between business actors and support the sustainability of the program. Thus, this program has succeeded in providing real benefits for community business groups and can be used as a model for community-based economic development in other regions.

Abstract

Selection of Final Project Topics is a crucial stage in the academic process, as it significantly affects the smoothness of project preparation and completion. However, the determination of final project topics often remains subjective and does not systematically consider students’ academic abilities. This study aims to design and develop a Decision Support System for selecting final project topics for students in the Informatics Management Department using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. The SAW method is employed to evaluate and rank alternative topics based on several criteria, including supporting course grades, student interest, programming skills, system analysis and design capabilities, and the availability of supervising lecturers. The results indicate that the SAW method can provide objective and transparent recommendations for final project topics. Based on the calculation, alternative A4 achieved the highest preference score of 0.962, making it the most recommended final project topic. Therefore, the developed system is expected to assist both students and academic staff in making more effective and structured decisions regarding final project topic selection.

Abstract

Vocational High Schools (SMKs) play a strategic role in producing graduates who are competent, skilled, and prepared to meet the demands of the industrial workforce. One of the core programs designed to achieve this objective is the Industrial Internship Program (Praktik Kerja Industri/Prakerin), which enables students to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom to real workplace environments. However, selecting appropriate Business and Industrial Partners (Dunia Usaha dan Dunia Industri—DUDI) remains a challenging task due to the involvement of multiple evaluation criteria, including curriculum compatibility, industrial facilities, accessibility, accommodation costs, and partner reputation. At SMK Negeri 1 Barus Utara, the selection process is still conducted manually, making it susceptible to subjectivity and inconsistency. This study proposes a Decision Support System (DSS) employing the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to objectively rank potential DUDI partners based on predefined evaluation criteria and their corresponding weights. The research adopts a quantitative approach within the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) framework. Five assessment criteria were established through interviews with internship coordinators, and five DUDI partners were evaluated as alternatives. The findings indicate that PT Sibolga Citra Komputindo achieved the highest preference score (0.7700), making it the most suitable internship partner. The implementation of the SAW method demonstrates its effectiveness in producing objective, transparent, and measurable recommendations, thereby improving the quality of internship management and supporting informed decision-making in vocational education.
