Abstract

Flooding is a common natural disaster in Indonesia, especially in regions with heavy rainfall and insufficient drainage systems. North Kolaka Regency is among the areas vulnerable to floods, particularly during the rainy season. This issue is exacerbated by climate change and environmental damage, which diminish the ground’s ability to absorb water, leading to floods that cause material losses, infrastructure damage, and even loss of life. To strengthen local preparedness, community outreach initiatives were carried out to raise awareness about the importance of developing flood contingency plans. These initiatives used a participatory approach, engaging the local community and stakeholders in the dissemination, planning process, and disaster preparedness training. The outcome showed an enhanced understanding, readiness, and improved coordination between relevant agencies in flood response efforts.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan Negara yang kaya akan sumber daya alam dengan salah satu sumber daya alam yang banyak di jumpai wilayah timur Indonesia yaitu sumberdaya nikel laterit. Aktivitas perusahaan tambang nikel memiliki dampak sosial terhadap masyarakat sekitarnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji dampak positif dari kegiatan penambangan nikel terhadap sosial ekonomi masyarakat yang bermukim di sekitar lokasi penambangan dan untuk memahami sejauh mana perubahan sosial ekonomi dari sebelum dan sesudah adanya aktivitas pertambangan. Kajian ini menggunakan metode tinjauan pustaka sistematis terhadap 10 artikel ilmiah dan diperoleh dari Google Scholar dengan cakupan artikel yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2015 hingga 2025. Artikel dipilih berdasarkan keterkaitan topik, aksesibilitas penuh dan kesesuaian isi yang membahas dampak hadirnya industri pertambangan ditengah-tengah masyarakat. Hasil studi menunjukan Dampak positif yang paling pesat dari aktivitas pertambangan nikel adalah berkurangnya angka pengangguran di lokasi tambang karena terbukanya lapangan kerja baru. Adanya pekerja tambang membuat peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat yang mengakibatkan daya beli yang tinggi sehingga memajukan usaha mikro (UMKM) dan menurunkan angka kemiskinan pada daerah lokasi tambang nikel. Selain itu, hadirnya industri pertambangan juga meningkatkan distribusi dan laju pertumbuhan PDRB serta peningkatan PAD serta adanya bantuan ke masyarakat, seperti bantuan pengadaan komputer, perbaikan sekolah, pelatihan pendidikan dan pelayanan pemeriksaan kesehatan secara berkala.

Abstract

Rock mass weathering is a crucial process that affects the strength and stability of slopes, particularly in mining areas such as Semin, Gunung Kidul. This study aims to analyze the degree of weathering of rock masses in the kaolin mining area using petrographic analysis and uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) testing. Rock samples were collected from three different locations representing varying material conditions based on macroscopic appearance. All the samples are of Altered Mudrock lithology. Sample I is dominated by primary minerals (plagioclase) with a small amount of clay minerals, classified as fresh (grade I). Sample II, which exhibits increased secondary mineral content and porosity, is categorized as slightly weathered (Grade II). Sample III, dominated by secondary minerals (clay and oxides) and with a very low UCS value, is classified as completely weathered (grade V). The results indicate that as the degree of weathering increases, the content of secondary minerals also increases, while the rock strength decreases. Weathering processes, both physical and chemical, alter the mineral composition of rocks, making them more brittle and susceptible to mechanical failure. This study offers valuable insights into how weathering impacts rock stability in mining areas, with implications for safer mine planning and management.
