Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum (K-13) and Merdeka Curriculum in the learning process, especially in terms of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects. The Merdeka Curriculum provides more space for students to explore independently, and conduct exploration activities through discussions and studying the problems they face, while K-13 tends to be more rigid with a focus on achieving a certain set of competencies. A qualitative research method with a case study design was used to explore teachers' experiences while implementing the two curricula. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with PAI teachers at SMK Karya Rini Yogyakarta, learning documents, and classroom observations of grades 10 and 11. The research findings show that Merdeka Curriculum offers more flexibility for educators in organizing teaching as it is designed to increase students' roles during learning. However, the main obstacles in implementing it are limited facilities, teacher readiness, and understanding among students and parents about this new learning paradigm. Alternatively, K-13 offers stricter guidelines but also stifles creativity from both sides. Curriculum transformation should be comprehensive in the form of training teachers, providing adequate facilities for schools and educating students and parents. The location can serve as a reference for constituents in planning more relevant policies and implementing more effective strategies.

Abstract

The low level of Higher Order Thinking Skills and the conventional learning model applied in various schools is ineffective in improving students' HOTS, especially in Fiqh learning. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Quantum Teaching learning model in enhancing the HOTS skills of tenth-grade students at MAN 4 Bantul. The study employs a quantitative and quasi-experimental design involving experimental and control classes. Cluster random sampling was used for sample selection. The research instruments consist of pretest and posttest questions that have been validated. Data analysis includes normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class, with an average N-Gain of 68.49%, which is considered fairly effective, compared to the control class with an average N-Gain of 28.43%, which is regarded as less effective. Thus, the Quantum Teaching model has proven effective in enhancing students' HOTS skills in the Fiqh subject. This research improves HOTS of Fiqh learning students based on quantum teaching models and becomes a reference for teachers in designing learning strategies oriented towards HOTS.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis, in the form of waste, is particularly urgent in the city of Yogyakarta. This crisis stems from a weakening of ecological awareness and an anthropocentric view of society. This view places humans at the center of nature, leading to the exploitation of resources and severing spiritual ties with the environment. This study aims to explore how Islamic values shape and transform ecological awareness among the Muslim community in Yogyakarta, particularly in responding to the local waste crisis. The research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type to explore the meaning of life experiences and spiritual awareness of the Muslim community in Wedomartani, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The research subjects consist of religious leaders and environmental activists who are active in religious value-based conservation activities. Data was collected through interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings show that ecological awareness is formed through three dimensions: spiritual (viewing nature as verses of kauniyah), moral (internalization of the principles of an-nadhafatu minal iman and ihsan values), and social (sacred collective actions, such as community service that begins with prayer). This process of consciousness transformation goes through instrumental, reflective, and transcendental stages, where caring for the environment becomes an expression of worship (ubudiyah). Core Islamic values such as tauhid, amanah, ihsan, and syukur become the theological foundation that drives this transformation. Scientific contribution
