Abstract

This article aims to examine the effectiveness of using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in supporting the success of the group counseling process. The method used is a literature study by analyzing various literatures and national journals published in 2020-2025. The results showed that MBTI plays an important role in strengthening group dynamics, building effective communication, and developing facilitation strategies that are in accordance with the personality characteristics of each member. The use of MBTI allows counselors to form balanced groups, encourage active participation, and help members understand their potential and role in the group. In addition, MBTI has also been shown to support the process of self-reflection, decision-making, and personal development of counselees. Nonetheless, the application of MBTI should be done contextually and ethically so that it does not become a fixed label for individuals. Thus, MBTI can be a strategic tool in improving the overall effectiveness of group counseling.
