Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of digital interactive learning in enhancing the explanatory text writing skills of SMP students within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum. Employing a pretest-posttest control group experimental design with random assignment, the study involved 30 students divided into two groups: the experimental group (n = 15) utilized Canva for Education, Padlet, and Instagram for digital interactive learning, while the control group (n = 15) followed conventional methods. Data were collected through writing tests and analyzed using an independent t-test. Results revealed a significant difference (t = 2.971, p = 0.006), with the experimental group showing greater improvement (from 76.00 to 84.00) compared to the control group (from 71.00 to 78.00), particularly in cohesion and coherence (+1.1). Qualitative data highlighted students’ enthusiasm and reflective abilities through online peer-review. However, the small sample size and short intervention duration (4 sessions) limit the generalizability of findings. Further research with larger samples is recommended for broader application.

Abstract

Digital games are increasingly recognized as potential tools for non-formal learning, including enhancing financial literacy and social skills. This study was conducted to explore how Grand Theft Auto V Online, as a popular commercial game, can serve as a medium for non-formal education that facilitates understanding of digital economy concepts and financial literacy. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, the research involved participant observation where the researcher actively engaged as a player, supplemented by field notes and visual documentation as data collection techniques, analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings revealed that GTA V Online players engage in financial decision-making, management of virtual businesses, application of passive income strategies, and development of social skills through collaborative interactions. These results indicate that GTA V Online holds significant potential as a non-formal learning medium integrating entertainment with educational processes, although challenges remain regarding sensitive content and the necessity for appropriate pedagogical frameworks. This study contributes to expanding the understanding of commercial games as alternative educational tools while opening avenues for future research to quantitatively assess impacts and design more inclusive and safe pedagogical approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of character values within the Eight Dimensions of Graduate Profiles aligned with the vision of the Pancasila Student Profile in Amalia Najichah’s poems from the anthology Surat dari Samudera (Letters from the Ocean). The research employs a qualitative approach using content analysis, complemented by stylistic and literary reception theories. The data consist of six poems analyzed based on eight character dimensions: Faith and Piety to God Almighty, Citizenship, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Independence, Health, and Communication. The findings reveal that all poems reflect these character values, with Citizenship and Collaboration as the most dominant dimensions. Stylistic analysis shows that the use of repetition, metaphor, and onomatopoeia not only enhances aesthetic quality but also reinforces moral and social messages. Meanwhile, reception theory analysis indicates that young readers can internalize these values cognitively, affectively, and socially through reflective and contextual reading experiences. The study concludes that youth poetry has strong potential as an effective medium for character education in the Merdeka Curriculum, both in intracurricular and co-curricular contexts. Therefore, Amalia Najichah’s works serve not only as aesthetic expressions of adolescence but also as strategic instruments for shaping a faithful, independent, collaborative, and Pancasila-oriented generation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran aplikasi SITALING KERJA (Sistem Anti-Bullying dan Kekerasan Remaja) terhadap peningkatan keterampilan menulis laporan dan keberanian siswa dalam melaporkan kasus perundungan di SMP Negeri 2 Kroya. Aplikasi ini dikembangkan sebagai media pelaporan digital yang aman dan edukatif, sekaligus diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia untuk memperkuat kompetensi literasi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan sumber data berupa hasil laporan siswa yang dikirim melalui aplikasi SITALING KERJA, wawancara dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi kegiatan pembelajaran. Data dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan berdasarkan model analisis interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi SITALING KERJA mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks laporan siswa secara signifikan, baik dari segi kelengkapan struktur, ketepatan isi, maupun objektivitas bahasa. Sebanyak 80% laporan siswa telah memenuhi unsur teks laporan peristiwa (orientasi, kronologi, reorientasi) dengan gaya bahasa yang lebih runtut dan faktual. Selain itu, 85% siswa menunjukkan keberanian moral dalam menulis laporan kasus perundungan yang sebelumnya enggan diungkapkan secara langsung. Temuan ini memperkuat teori literasi digital (Gilster, 1997), restitusi (Gossen, 2004), dan self-efficacy moral (Bandura, 1997) yang menegaskan pentingnya keterampilan menulis sebagai sarana refleksi, tanggung jawab sosial, dan pembentukan karakter. Dengan demikian, penerapan aplikasi SITALING KERJA tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sistem pelaporan anti-bullying, tetapi juga sebagai media pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia berbasis literasi digital dan karakter, yang mengintegrasikan aspek kognitif, afektif, dan moral siswa secara harmonis. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi rujukan dalam pengembangan model pembelajaran menulis berbasis teknologi yang mendukung program Sekolah Ramah Anak dan Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter.

Abstract

Learning to Understand the Content of Recited Poetry is a crucial aspect of literature instruction at the junior high school level. However, field observations indicate that many students struggle to appreciate poetry due to its imaginative and multi-interpretative language (Afiana et al., 2022). This study aims to improve the skill of understanding poetry content through the implementation of a modeling-based learning model using poetry recitation videos for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Cilacap. This research adopts a quantitative approach, with subjects consisting of seventh-grade students selected based on their initial achievement, which did not meet the standard of learning mastery. The instruments used include a poetry comprehension skills test and non-test instruments such as observation, interviews, journals, and documentation. The data were analyzed using both descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results indicate that the modeling learning model combined with poetry recitation videos significantly enhanced students' ability to understand the content of poetry. The average score increased from 74.78 to 78.6, exceeding the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKTP). Improvements were observed in the ability to identify the theme, message, feeling, tone and atmosphere, as well as in the ability to summarize the overall content of the poem. Additionally, there was a positive change in student behavior, with learners becoming more active, confident, and enthusiastic during the learning process. The video presentations played an important role in enthusiastic during the learning process. The video presentations played an important role in stimulating students’ auditory perception and imagination (Arlindo et al., 2022), while the modeling approach encouraged both cognitive and affective engagement (Musfiroh & Kanzunnudin, 2022). These findings affirm that instructional strategies integrating inductive approaches and audio-visual media are effective in enhancing students’ literary appreciation competencies (Sayoga & Nurlatifah, 2023). This study provides practical insights for teachers in designing engaging and effective poetry lessons and recommends further research to examine the effectiveness of similar strategies in broader educational contexts (Utomo et al., 2023).

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the “Word Chemistry” technique in improving poetry writing skills of 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Maos during the 2024/2025 academic year. The background of this research lies in students’ limited ability to choose precise diction and express strong imagination in writing poetry. “Word Chemistry” is a creative technique that encourages imaginative exploration and combination of words, similar to chemical reactions, enriching students’ vocabulary and poetic expression. A quasi-experimental method was applied using a pretest-posttest design involving two groups: experimental and control. The primary instruments included poetry writing tests and scoring sheets assessing diction, imagery, creativity, and expression. Data analysis revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores in the experimental group (p = 0.00000122), with 90.63% of students showing improvement, although most gains were categorized as low to moderate based on N-Gain analysis. The study concludes that the Word Chemistry technique significantly enhances students’ poetry writing skills and holds promise as a creative and enjoyable method for teaching literary expression.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using concept maps on the speaking ability of grade IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Jeruklegi in 2025. The background of this study is the ability to convey understanding orally, especially the gap between formal and non-formal speaking. Therefore, a way is needed to overcome this, one of which is by using concept maps. Using concept maps, students can see the relationship between concepts visually so that students can easily understand and remember information more precisely. This can improve students' ability to explain material systematically and logically. The method used is an experiment with two groups, namely the experimental group that was given treatment using concept maps and the control group that did not receive learning with concept maps. The instrument used was an oral speaking test before and after treatment. The results of the data analysis showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group, which indicates that the use of concept maps has a positive effect on students' speaking skills. These findings recommend the use of concept maps as an alternative to varied and enjoyable speaking learning.
