Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought innovations in higher education systems, including in microbiology education that demands conceptual understanding and independent skills. This article aims to systematically examine the influence of Smart Learning Environment (SLE), e-learning platforms, and wearable technologies on improving the learning independence of microbiology students. Through a literature study of various national and international scientific articles, it was found that the three technologies complement each other in creating an adaptive, interactive, and personalized learning ecosystem. SLE provides a data-based and artificial intelligence-based learning environment, e-learning platforms provide flexibility of access and multimedia content, while wearable technologies support real-time monitoring and feedback on learning. These findings provide a strong conceptual foundation for developing a digital learning model that encourages student learning autonomy in the field of microbiology. This article also formulates a hypothetical direction for further research based on educational technology in the life sciences.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and leverage in enhancing corporate financial performance through a literature review approach. GCG, measured through ownership structure, board of directors, audit committee, and transparency, along with leverage policy, serves as a key factor in optimizing financial performance. This article reviews relevant literature linking these two variables to improvements in corporate financial performance and offers theoretical and practical implications that can serve as a foundation for further research. The literature review findings indicate that the implementation of effective GCG principles can enhance accountability, reduce information asymmetry, and promote better decision-making, thereby positively impacting profitability and firm value. Meanwhile, leverage has a complex influence; moderate debt use can increase return on investment through tax shields, but excessive leverage raises financial risk. The interaction between GCG and leverage also moderates their relationship with financial performance, where good governance can mitigate risks associated with leverage. The implications of this study highlight the importance of balancing GCG practices and leverage policies to achieve optimal financial performance. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for academics, practitioners, and regulators in making strategic decisions.

Abstract

Wound infection is a serious clinical challenge, mainly due to increasing antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation by pathogenic microorganisms. Protease enzymes produced by various microorganisms, especially bacteria, have shown potential in decomposing necrotic tissues, destroying biofilms, and enhancing the efficacy of other antimicrobial agents. The literature shows that microorganisms such as Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Streptomyces spp. produce proteases with significant pharmacological activities. The application of these enzymes in topical formulations, bioactive wound dressings, and combination therapies has become the focus of research in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical biotechnology. This article aims to review the characteristics of protease-producing microorganisms, the mechanism of action of enzymes in the wound disinfection process, and the challenges and prospects of their future applications. This review is expected to be a scientific basis for the development of biotechnology-based wound therapy.

Abstract

Violence against women and children is a serious violation of human rights and is a complex and multidimensional social problem. This phenomenon not only reflects the failure of the legal system, but also shows the strong patriarchal culture that is still rooted in Indonesian society. Although there are various legal instruments such as Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence, Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection, and Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence, in reality violence is still rampant and even tends to increase every year. This study aims to analyze the role of law in overcoming violence against women and children, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of protection policies at the regional level. The method used is a normative legal approach with qualitative descriptive techniques, supplemented by field data and expert opinions to strengthen the analysis. The results of the study show that the implementation of the law still faces various obstacles, such as a lack of understanding of gender perspectives in law enforcement officers, minimal integrated protection services, and weak coordination between related institutions. Therefore, efforts are needed to strengthen institutions, provide legal education to the community, and have a more restorative and victim-oriented legal approach so that legal protection for women and children can run optimally.
