Abstract

Abstract - Students are individuals who are in the process of development, both physically and psychologically. During their development, students have characteristics that become the main elements in the learning process. The existence of differences in student characteristics is a problem for educators in delivering learning material, especially in foreign language learning. In the process of learning English, which is a foreign language, students find it difficult to receive the material well. Therefore, fun learning methods are needed so that students enjoy the process of learning English at school. The characteristics of students in the English learning process at MI Al-Hidayah Purwasaba class V are almost all the same, namely lack of interest in learning English, lack of encouragement to learn, inappropriate learning styles, and students' potential is not in learning English. In this way, research was carried out with the aim of observing the characteristics of students in the English language learning process at MI Purwasaba class V based on learning motivation, learning styles, and students' initial potential.
