Abstract

This class action research was carried out on grade VI students of SD N Sukamaju, Megamendung District, Bogor Regency, for the 2024/2025 Academic Year, to improve mathematics learning outcomes, especially in ratio materials. The Problem-Based learning (PBL) model is applied in two cycles, each of which includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results showed an increase in student enthusiasm from 35.00% in the initial condition to 60.00% in the first cycle and 75.00% in the second cycle. An increase was also seen in learning outcomes, which increased from 65.65% in cycle I to 91.30% in cycle II. Students' activity in understanding the concept of ratio increased from 60.00% in cycle I to 90.00% in cycle II, while learning satisfaction based on questionnaires increased from 72.50% to 92.50%. The teacher's ability to implement PBL also developed from a fairly good category with a score of 1.9 to very good with a score of 3.24 in the first cycle and 3.9 in the second cycle. The final evaluation showed an increase in student learning completeness from 35.00% in the initial condition to 60.00% in the first cycle and 95.00% in the second cycle, with the average class increasing from 57.50 to 70.00 in the first cycle and 81.75 in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the PBL approach effectively improves student engagement and learning outcomes in understanding the concept of ratios.

Abstract

Objective: This study analyzes the comparison of the effectiveness of the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) model and the Expository model in improving mathematical problem solving skills. The fundamental problem in learning mathematics often lies in the low skills of students in solving problems. The PBI approach is based on active learning through real problems, while the Expository model emphasizes the direct delivery of information by the teacher. Method: This study used a comparison experimental design between two treatment groups. The instrument used was a test of mathematical problem solving skills in the form of descriptions. Result: The analysis showed that there was a significant difference in mathematics problem solving ability between the group of students taught with PBI and the group taught with the Expository model. Specifically, the group using PBI showed a higher average problem solving ability than the Expository group. Novelty: This finding indicates that the Problem Based Instruction model is potentially more effective in developing mathematical problem solving skills.

Abstract

The Biology learning process at SMAN 3 Cibeber still produces achievements that are not optimal, this condition is due to the application of a more dominant conventional learning process approach, where teachers often use lectures rather than actively involve students. This study adopts a quantitative approach with an experimental design to test the effect of the application of the sole learning process approach on students' academic activities and achievements. The subject of this study is grade XI students in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. A total of 25 students were selected for the experimental class and another 25 students for the control class. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with data collection through initial evaluation and final evaluation. The data obtained was analyzed using the paired sample T-test. The results of the analysis showed a significance value of 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05, indicating a significant difference in the academic achievement of students in experimental classes that applied the sole learning process. The increase in students' cognitive academic achievement can be seen from the N-Gain value of 0.46 which is included in the medium category. These findings show that the application of the sole learning process in the excretory system learning process can increase both student engagement and academic achievement.

Abstract

Objective: The shift to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic presented significant challenges, particularly in delivering complex material such as Reproductive Biology, which involves abstract and visually rich concepts. Infographic-based learning media, which combines visual and textual data, has emerged as a promising solution to improve student comprehension. This study aims to analyze students’ responses toward the use of infographic media in learning organogenesis content. Method: A descriptive qualitative method was employed, involving 46 sixth-semester biology education students from Universitas Indraprasta PGRI. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed qualitatively. Results: Results indicate that most students provided positive responses, highlighting the media’s role in enhancing understanding, supporting task completion, and fostering learning interest. Novelty: This media is recommended for broader application in both online and face-to-face learning.
