Abstract

Chili plants are superior horticultural commodities that are intensively cultivated by farmers. In addition, chili is a staple food for Indonesian people, chili is used as a flavor enhancer in cooking and various other processed food products. This study aims (1) To determine the effect of the effectiveness of red lemongrass and red betel leaf extracts as attractants in controlling fruit fly pests on chili plants, (2) To determine how effective red lemongrass and red betel leaf extracts are as attractants in controlling fruit fly pests at various concentrations. This study was conducted in Lambanapu Village, Kambera District, East Sumba Regency, for 7 days, starting from March 21 to March 28, 2025. This study is an experimental study designed using a factorial randomized block design (RAK), with 2 treatments (RAK Factorial) namely 6 treatments and grouped 3 times so that 18 experimental units were studied, The first factor is the attractant dose consisting of 2 levels as follows: D1 = red lemongrass leaves and D2 = betel leaves. The second factor is the dose of the attractant consisting of 4 levels as follows: P1 = 20%, P2 = 40%, P3 = 60%. The results of the study showed that the use of red lemongrass extract had a significant effect on fruit fly pests in all observed parameters. The use of red betel leaf extract had a significant effect on fruit fly pests. In all observed observation parameters.

Abstract

Sorghum is an important food crop after rice, corn and wheat. This research aims to analyze the response of growth and yield of local Rara Tadda sorghum plants to the application of cow manure. The method used was a complete randomized experiment with varying doses of cow manure, namely 5, 10, 15 and 20 tons per hectare. The results of this study showed that the application of cow manure significantly increased plant height growth up to 12 WAP with a value of 112.53 cm, treatment with the number of leaves with a value of 14,2500, treatment with panicle length with a value of 45,200 cm, treatment with seed weight per panicle 90.00 grams and seed weight per 1000 grains with a value of 29,000 grams. Cow manure gave no significant difference to the best plant height P4 = 20 tons/ha = 3,080 grams, treatment with the number of leaves obtained the optimal value P4 = 20 tons/ha = 3,080 grams, panicle length treatment P3 = 15 tons/ha = 2,310 grams , seed weight treatment per panicle P0 (control) and seed weight treatment per 1000 grains P3 = 15 tons/ha = 2,310 grams. Apart from that, cow manure also has a positive effect on the growth of sorghum plants. This research concludes that the use of cow manure can increase the productivity of local Rara Tadda sorghum plants.

Abstract

Sorghum is a cereal food crop that is still in the same family as corn, rice and wheat. The basic problem in the development of sorghum is the maturity of the soil or its availability in the soil. This study aims to determine the effect of water provision that can increase the growth and yield of sorghum using RAL (completely randomized design) consisting of 5 treatments 4 replications The methods used include plant height, number of leaves, panicle length, wet stalk weight, seed weight per 1000 grains, and dry stalk weight. With various levels of water provision that vary P0 = (control) P1 = once every 2 days P2 = once every 4 days P3 = once every 6 days P4 = once every 8 days. Based on the results of the research that has been conducted, it can be concluded that the growth of sorghum plants with the highest value is found in treatments p3 and p4 both in plant height, number of leaves, panicle length, 1000 grain seed weight, wet bunch weight and dry bunch weight. The higher the growth and yield of sorghum plants, the higher the production value of sorghum plants will be, while the lowest values ​​of P1 and P2 are not much different from treatments P3 and P4 and the effect of watering sorghum plants has a significant effect on all parameters.

Abstract

Tanaman padi sebagai sumber pangan utama bagi mayoritas penduduk dunia, termasuk masyarakat Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah pada gangguan yang diakibatkan oleh Organisme Pengganggu Tanaman (OPT), khususnya gulma. Penelitian dilakukan mulai Bulan November-Desember 2023 di lahan padi sawah Kelurahan Mauliru, Kecamatan Kambera, Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Pengambilan sampel gulma dilakukan menggunakan metode kuadrat dengan 10 titik sampel yang ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Tiap titik akan dilakukan pengamatan pada lahan ukuran 1,5m x 1,5m. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 20 jenis gulma dengan total individu yang diperoleh mencapai 2.479. Gulma Cyperus rotundus mendominasi dengan nilai Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR) tertinggi sebesar 9,32% dengan nilai penting tertinggi sebesar 46,57%. Perhitungan nilai indeks keragaman menggunakan persamaan Indeks Diversitas Shannon-Wiener. Pada penelitian ini diperoleh nilai indeks keragaman sebesar 2,25 dan dikategorikan rendah. Hal ini menunjukkan pentingnya pengendalian spesifik pada gulma yang bersifat dominan untuk menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem dan pertanian padi di Kelurahan Mauliru, Kecamatan Kambera, Kabupaten Sumba
