Abstract

Pekanbaru City is one of the cities appointed as a National Strategic Area. Therefore, urbanization and changes in land use occur in Pekanbaru City. This study aims to decide on land-use changes, obtain information on the direction of physical development in Pekanbaru City, and decide the suitability between physical development and the Pekanbaru City spatial planning plan. The method used in this study is quantitative descriptive, digitizing on screen to make land use maps and overlaying in 2017 and 2023 to see changes in land use. The direction of physical development is obtained using a standard deviational ellipse. The suitability of land use with RTRW was obtained using the intersect overlay method.  The results of this study are 1) Changes in land use between 2017 and 2023 are dominated by settlements, industrial areas, and trade and services. For other land uses, there are also changes but not too significant. 2) The direction of physical development from the city center to the suburbs with a south and southwest direction. 3) The suitability between physical development and the Pekanbaru City Spatial Plan 2020 - 2040, as much as 33,6% is by the RTRW. Areas that are not following the RTRW are 63%. For areas that do not follow the RTRW, the figure is 3,4%. The conclusion of this study shows that most areas in Pekanbaru City have not been realized by the Pekanbaru City RTRW 2020-2040. With the increase in population, it is hoped that development will be achieved through the established development plan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of map media can affect the spatial thinking skills of students at SMAN 14 Padang City and to determine the learning outcomes of students' spatial thinking skills at SMAN 14 Padang City on the material of the distribution of areas prone to natural disasters in Indonesia using map media. This study used an experimental method with a quantitative research type and a sampling technique using the purposive sampling method by determining class XI F11 as the experimental class and class X F10 as the control class. The data collection techniques used were observation, tests, and documentation. The spatial thinking ability test was given after treatment to both classes. The test was given in the form of essay questions using spatial thinking indicators. The results showed that the average value of the essay test results of the experimental class students was higher than the control class. The average for the experimental class was 85.24 and the control class was 71.37. Based on the results of the independent sample t-test, it is also known that the significance value is 0.001 where the value is smaller than 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted and it can be concluded that the use of map learning media has a positive impact on student learning outcomes on the material on the distribution of areas prone to natural disasters in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using Augmented Reality media on learning activities and spatial thinking skills of students by using Augmented Reality media in learning geography at SMA N 1 Talamau, West Pasaman Regency. The method in this study is a quantitative method, the research design used is a quasi experimental design with a research design of nonequivalent control group design. Data collection is done by observation, tests and documentation. Data analysis with percentages, t-test (Independent sample t-test), and N-Gain. The results showed that the percentage of learning activities in the experimental class was 83.25%, including a very effective category. While the control class of 61.73% is included in the less effective category. Then the results of data analysis of students' spatial thinking abilities in the independent sample t-test show the results of two sided p (sig2-tailed) <0.001 smaller than 0.05 indicating that there is a significant difference between the two sample groups. Strengthened by the results of the N-Gain% of students' spatial thinking ability of the experimental class of 61.2477% including the moderately effective category and N-Gain% in the control class of 23.2252% including the ineffective category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir spasial siswa, saat pembelajaran konvensional dan pada saat menggunakan media pembelajaran peta di kelas XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Sample penelitian ini adalah kelas XI F4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI F8 sebagai kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes (pretest dan postest) dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Uji N-Gain dan Uji perbedaan rata-rata. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kelas eksperimen berada pada kategori cukup efektif berdasarkan skor N-Gain rata-rata sebesar 73,83% dan pada kelas kontrol 51,06% dengan kategori kurang efektif. Berdasarkan komponen berpikir spasial kelas kontrol mengalami peningkatan namun masih dalam kategori kurang efektif, yaitu pada simple spasial (51%), dan kompleks spasial (45%), untuk non spasial (68%), dan primitif spasial (62%) masuk kategori cukup efektif. Sedangkan, untuk kelas eksperimen terjadi peningkatan yang lebih signifikan, terutama pada komponen non spasial (92%) dengan kategori efektif, simple spasial (58%), kategori cukup efektif, kompleks spasial (45%) dan primitif spasial (46%) kategori kurang efektif. Berdasarkan uji Independent Sample t-test didapatkan taraf signifikansi (Sig. 2-tailed = 0.017 < 0.05) artinya terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara rata-rata kemampuan berpikir spasial siswa pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Hal ini juga terlihat dari rata-rata nilai kelas eksperimen yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol yaiitu 77,94 pada kelas eksperimen dan 70,34 pada kelas kontrol.

Abstract

Analytical skills (C4) are an essential part of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), which is the main requirement in the Merdeka Curriculum. However, students’ analytical abilities in the material on Village and City Spatial Interaction remain low. This study aims to identify the factors that cause the low analytical ability of grade XII students at SMA Negeri 3 Bukittinggi. The research method uses a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of students’ daily test results based on HOTS essay questions and qualitative analysis through questionnaires and interviews to explore the causal factors. A total of 132 students were analyzed for the ability category, and 20 were purposively selected for in-depth qualitative data collection. The results showed that 86% of students were in the Not Comprehending category, characterized by descriptive, non-concept-based answers. The main findings revealed that low analytical ability was caused by weak mastery of the geography concept, a lack of familiarity with HOTS questions, the absence of an analytical assessment rubric, and a learning process still oriented towards memorization. Conceptual models derived from data synthesis indicate that weak conceptual input and non-HOTS-oriented learning directly affect the low quality of student analysis. This research emphasizes the need to strengthen concept-based learning and improve the application of HOTS questions to enable students’ analytical skills to develop optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using geospatial educational technology media on improving the spatial thinking skills of students at SMAN 15 Padang. The research method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample of this study was class XI F10 as the experimental class and class XI F4 as the control class, which were randomly selected. Spatial thinking data were collected through tests and analyzed using t-tests. The results found that geospatial educational technology media influenced the spatial thinking skills of class XI F10 students at SMAN 15 Padang, with an average posttest score of 84.0 for the experimental class and 62.4 for the control class.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' learning activities in understanding key concepts of geography in the material of Indonesia's Strategic Position and to analyze the increase in geographic literacy after the implementation of learning based on key concepts of geography in class XI Phase F of SMA Negeri 1 Lolofitu Moi. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of class XI-1 F as the experimental class (33 students) and class XI-4 F as the control class (32 students) selected using a purposive sampling technique. Learning activity data was obtained through observation sheets, while geographic literacy was measured through pre-test and post-test, then analyzed using normality test, homogeneity test, t-test, and N-Gain results. The results showed that student learning activities in the experimental class increased from 36% to 78%, while in the control class from 17% to 48%. The average post-test score of the experimental class was 84, higher than the control class at 64.4. The results of the t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, so there was a difference in learning based on key concepts of geography on students' geographic literacy. The N-Gain results showed an increase of 66.56% in the experimental class (medium category) and 29.75% in the control class (low category). Thus, learning based on key geography concepts has proven effective in improving students' learning activities and geographic literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of key geographic concepts (space, place, interconnection, and change) in improving students' geographic literacy on biodiversity material. This study uses a mixed method approach with a sequential explanatory design, which combines quantitative and qualitative data. The subjects of the study were grade XI students of SMAN 2 Bangko Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau. Data collection techniques were carried out through pre-tests and post-tests as well as interviews with geography teachers. The results of the study showed an increase in student literacy as indicated by an increase in the average score from 59.26 in the pre-test to 64.51 in the post-test. The results of the N-Gain analysis showed that the increase was in the moderate category with more prominent developments in higher-order thinking indicators, namely the ability to integrate, evaluate, and use information. In addition, the interview results showed that students became more active and had a high interest in learning after implementing learning based on key geographic concepts, so that the application of key geographic concepts made a positive contribution to improving students' geographic literacy.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of using Spatial Exploration learning media on improving the spatial thinking ability of students at SMAN 7 Padang. This research employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of Class XI F6 as the experimental group and Class XI F7 as the control group, selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data on students' spatial thinking ability were collected through a test and analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the use of Spatial Exploration learning media had a significant positive effect on the spatial thinking ability of students in Class XI F6 at SMAN 7 Padang. The mean posttest score of the experimental group was 85.06, while that of the control group was 71.69.
